  1. Review of the Roland LG-640

Did you ever resolve this issue? We have the exact same problem but with red. All other colours are perfect, no dropout, no misalignment. Even the red test print is perfect, but when it prints the red is blurry. We reported this to our dealer who has filed a report through Roland DG online...
  2. Gerber edge Print head adjust

Is this procedure and voltage settings the same for Edge FX?
  3. Need Help Summa s2 160 x-axis not perf cut as well as y-axis

You need to run higher full pressure setting and fine tune the flexcut depth using the blade extension. This way the cut depth will be even on x and y axis cuts.
  4. Roll to Roll UV Printer Purchase

Regular prints are fine for us too. Unlaminated or with good UV specific laminates, dust isn't really a problem. The only issue comes with spot gloss. Any dust trapped in the first CMYK pass or the gloss pass will show as an inclusion in the gloss. As the varnish is printed as a 2nd job, there...
  5. Just got the Roland Tru VIS MG UV, considering air scrubber for smell does it work?

You get used to the smell after a couple months. UV ink just smells, even when the printer isn’t printing. The ink cartridges themselves smell. We run a Bofa filter which reduces the smell during printing but causes other problems like pulling dust into the printer (we run a lot of gloss varnish...

Problem solved. Mods please delete thread.
  7. AZ Looking to buy Roland Take-Up unit for an SP540i

For print and cut jobs the Roland take up isn't worth the hassle in my opinion. You can use TU2 mode then set it up in versaworks to take up and unwind but if you have lots of different length jobs and just want to print and cut them onto a take up roll, it's an extra step for every job. Also if...

  9. Need Help Is anyone using a Summa cutter after printing with Roland

Use the plugin or set up a file containing the regmark and cut layers then drop your artwork in there. Reposition the reg marks, cut and paste your cut paths onto the respective layers then print with versaworks and cut using Gosign. Or you can upgrade to onyx rip which will add summa marks...
  10. Roll to Roll UV Printer Purchase

The smell is just different. The Epson is worse whist it is printing. Its kind of an acrid smell that hangs in the air. But it quickly dissipates after printing. The Eco UV ink just stinks. A strong chemical smell that’s permanently there. Ours was a demo machine. When it was delivered I could...
  11. I AM BUYING THIS MACHINE TOMORROW UNLESS YOU TELL ME OTHERWISE...... Roland UV mG640

We run an mg640 along side an epson but there’s no way I would run one as my only printer. It’s far too slow. Below is what I posted on another thread about roll to roll uv printers. You’d be better off with an epson s80600. “You can print white and cmyk in a single pass on the Roland. Gloss...
  12. Roland SP300V - Cutting Force doesn't change

A brand new 60 degree blade should cut through even thick material like butter. The OP said he's not even scoring the backing paper. Check the blade extension properly, or maybe the blade tip broke first time out. Sometimes the 60 degree blades can skim the media clamp which breaks the tip off...
  13. Roland SP300V - Cutting Force doesn't change

Do you have enough blade extension? What temperature are you cutting at? 300g is low for that kind of thickness, even with heat. We used to put weights on the blade holder to consistently cut thick material on versacamms. In the end we ran special blades and blade holders.
  14. Roll to Roll UV Printer Purchase

You can print white and cmyk in a single pass on the Roland. Gloss varnish is added on a second pass, so if you’re buying for the spot gloss effect, it will be even slower. Roland will print matte and gloss effect like the Colorado, UV inks are matte by default anyway. How clean is your shop...
