  1. The Most "interesting" Booth At Isa Last Week

I was dying when I saw this at the show! Thanks for taking a picture for all to see. In all seriousness however I really liked Mimaki's booth.
  2. Help CNC routing aluminum with applied vinyl

With thin alum as you mentioned I would do the following. Note: to cut vinyl applied to acrylic or alum. the vinyl must have had time to let the adhesive set up and bond. You also want a new sharp bit. Vinyl side up - 6mm s/f down spiral bit at 240ipm @ 24k rpm Vinyl side down - I would...

  5. Polishing bit

We use a 6mm x 12mm cutting length single flute acrylic polishing bit. About $130ea The trick is to do a 0.007" in set clean up pass while the parts are held down very well. Get the RPM up as high as you can go. Climb mill at about 40ipm. Let the bit get some heat in it. Also make sure the...
  6. Cutting fluid Choices - Dry Cutting Alum

We have a misting system on our larger CNC's that uses a vegetable based oil. The oil lubricates good but I feel like if we can control the chip load and get the RPM high enough we can evacuate the heat in the chip and avoid using oil. Does anyone have experience dry cutting aluminum 5051 or...

  10. Route in place tactile letters leaving adhesive

Yeah we put some acrylic in the fridge and then cut it and it helped a lot. Hand cutting around letters may help but we cut into the backer a few thousands. We may build an inclosed room to house the CNC and keep the room about 68ºf but I want to figure how others are doing it with less...
  11. Route in place tactile letters leaving adhesive

We have a laser but we want to produce larger volume on our CNCs or buy another CNC just for route in place and setting beed Braille as a semi automated system. If we were doing a few signs here and there non of this would be a big issue but when we get orders for 3,500 the problem is compounded.

  20. RS-540 Take up question

If you have 12-30ft of media you need to roll out it would be nice to use a media holder to hold the media off the table before laminating or trimming. I dont want anything to touch the surface of the media and so a few feet to roll out is fine but for a serious production its a considerable...
