  1. Roland VS-540i... to trash or not to trash

I would sell as is. If you put new heads and dampers in it, you likely wouldn't be able to recoup that cost alone. Trade schools around here have nicer stuff than most businesses so I wouldn't bother with that route either.
  2. Longest lasting digital print?

Hey everybody, I am looking for some input for an upcoming job that I have. I building some signs that will sit on a pedestal at a 45 degree angle (exterior) and was wondering what the longest lasting digital prints are. These signs are full color with a lot of info on them like what you would...
  3. What are some ways to show gratitude to past clients?

I try to let my work speak for itself, and try to be a pleasant person to deal with (which is a struggle for me) My good customers tend to get extras when they order stuff, and I have even done complete jobs for free. (rare) I'm either doing something very wrong or very right because I'm so...
  4. Raises?

I agree, I have been going 1-2 dollars an hour/per year. I obviously can't keep this up forever, but for now it is working.
  5. Best way to re-do this wrap

Looks good considering. It really needs that bottom white to be red though.
  6. I'm sure it's been covered - grey reflective?

I usually print gray, but is there a gray translucent/transparent option you could use for an overlay like a street sign?
  7. Question W9 forms

Did you tell your accountant they are a wholesale company and not a subcontractor? You don't need to send them anything.
  8. Roland SP300V - Cutting Force doesn't change

My old SP was never accurate enough for multiple passes. A 60 degree blade should be getting you there. A tech told me that the downforce would eventually weaken, but he didn't talk like it would be sudden.
  9. Need Help Corel X4 can no longer make an .eps file that Roland Versaworks will accept.

More than likely you have something corrupt in your file itself. Try exporting something incredibly basic and see if it works.
  10. Grimlite

Most of you guys are incredibly lucky that you have anyone deliver to you. I'm in a dead zone where Tubelite, Grimco, Glantz, etc all deliver within 50 miles of me but won't come to me, and truck freight is usually cost prohibitive for certain items. I have a local supplier that comes once a...
  11. Printing Translucent to keep the reflective.

Make sure you are printing with a reflective profile. The profile will lay down less ink than your normal profiles. Also, blue is a tough reflective color in general. I also agree with the others, its probably fine.
  12. Discussion Using stand/take-up off old Roland?

I haven't taken one apart, but since the take up works independent of the printer with a limit switch, it should be as easy as putting power to it and making sure that switch is still intact. I'd love to have some extra parts for my XR, but I don't even know what they would be. My machine has...
  13. Looking for a Koozie printer recommendation

I used Quality Logo Products for some Koozie brand koozies one time nearly a decade ago, and they turned out great. I didn't want el cheapo huggers, and it went well. That's not a normal product I offer, but I did it as a one time deal for a good customer. There are probably better places or...
  14. Does anyone recognize this sign "kit"

Hey, I was wondering if anyone recognized this sign system? I would normally fab one up myself, but since there may be several, I was looking for a vendor. I found some similar, but not this one. Thanks in advance.
  15. Lifting Oracal Reflective Vinyl

Not to be a doom and gloom guy, but last year I did a sheriff vehicle with 5600 and it bubbled and didn't go away. I ended up doing it again with 3m and it was fine. I love Oracal products as a whole, but I am trying to get away from their reflective.
  16. Roland XR640 ink detection problem

Lots of good info in the Roland specific forum on here. https://www.signs101.com/threads/xr640-intermittent-false-low-ink.173310/
  17. 10 yard rolls are different

The black looks like 10 yards, and the white looks like 20 to me
  18. XR640 Intermittent false low ink

Man, I have fought this problem for years, but from what I can tell, its more random than you describe as for which cart is acting up. It pretty much has done it since new. The only thing I don't like is the "dry" lines it puts in my prints. I have no solution, but will be watching for when...
  19. Rapidtac

Yes, it works well for cleaning after remover. Rapid Prep is a good product too, and can even be used as a final clean if dried with a clean towel. If you let it air dry, it leaves a film. I definitely use Prep more than Tac around here, but I do usually follow it with Alcohol.
  20. Needing suggestions for repurposing a flex face

Those flex frames are essentially what I took down. The frame and trim with backs was over 400 pounds. That's why I didn't want to go back that route. I don't hate the idea of making a frame to wrap over, but cost and difficulty handling something that large, inside of the building just adds...
