It is more the print media used that will determine the bruising or stretch. 3M IJ480 for example will stretch without the bruising far better than IJ180. I think more ink saturation could problems for you in regards to lamination and adhesion issues.

A chop saw will/can work ....but if you are slicing reflective material...especially high intensity... the heat of the saw can melt the adhesive and cause issues.
We also build the sled signs ...but we call them cradle signs. Depending on the size we also build them in pieces to transport. Very popular in this part of the country for property management groups and short term advertising.
In our shop they visit on a yearly basis and check to ensure we are using the correct PSI when apply sheeting and graphics....compression rollers are in good shape...prepping the substrates correctly, storing the vinyl properly...using the right inks with the proper substrates/sheeting, have all...

Our shop minimum is $65.00 based on our hourly rate. We cannot do small $5-$10 jobs and make any money. We refer them to a smaller sign shop up the road and in turn that shop reciprocates larger installs and or jobs they cannot handle.
Also, any job that is less than $100.00 has to be paid cash...
We have an air exchanger to cope with the fumes. It is by no means unbearable....only when we are laying down large runs of darker colors. My office connected to the print room which doesn't help....I seem to be the only one that notices the fumes.
I just received our 3M MCS certification 3 weeks ago. I purchased an Epson Surecolor S60600 about 2 months ago and love it. Very fast and great quality graphics for the price. The ink fumes can be a little overwhelming at times but nothing a print shop couldn't cope with.
