Problem is that not even Mimaki is Honoring the warranties on the heads anymore .. that is why I always recommend the end user to do a nozzle test before switching into a 3rd party ink and another nozzle test a week or a month after and test will tell you the truth !!! BJ

Sometimes when you switch over to other inks is a must that you flush out the system because there might be a incomparability between chemicals, Sometimes you might get lucky but some other time people think that is the ink that mess it up the heads when in reality those printers are made for...

change the tubing on the pumps since it is made for water base liquids. also cap tops.

use cellulose thinner to clean the heads !!! use it for just 10 minutes and then run solvent .... you will see the difference...

is not that the printers are on backorder but because they have a big problem with metalized inks coming off very easy !!!

to the odor issue, if it doesn't smell is more dangerous because they use more Gamma Butyrolactone instead of more solvent for abrasion resistance .. this is used to get the inks to smell less but in reality are more dangerous because you don't know what is killing you... to the maintenance...

it depends exactly on 2 question. will the people who sell the ink be responsible for it and will they give you full support? Are you willing to do this, and if anything goes wrong go back to original with not regrets? You have to be willing to do the change over because if you have any doubts...
