  1. Need help with sound issue

Had a similar problem a while back. Short version ---mobo sound circuit was conflicting with an add on sound card---result, little or no sound. Tech support decided that only one could work at a time. The fix was to go into the BIOS and enable tha add on card only---and disable the mobo sound...
  2. Not enough memory error. Please help.

I'm not sure what a scratch disk is either, and I'm also not familiar with Photoshop. That being said, a 112 meg file strikes me as being awful big. My earliest computer only had 540 meg for the whole hard drive. Point being, that maybe if you adjust the settings in virtual memory---as in...
  3. new and stupid

Not familiar with VMP either-- Try looking in either the cutter setup, or, the program itself under the "CUT" menu for something that says "AXIS SWAP" This reverses the "X" and "Y" axis. Also, what was said above on the practice with paper/pen first. bill preston
  4. Importing

Newer computer? Windows SP2 added lately? Older version of Signlab? Added RAM maybe? Anti-virus updated? Been a "worm" caught on my 'puter twice in the last few days. bill preston
  5. Looking for first vinyl cutter

No experience with either the company, or their plotter/software. 10 years use and experience with an Ioline 24 inch Classic plotter. So far, it has been as near bulletproof as any I have seen. Also, highly under rated. FWIW bill preston
  6. Another Newby With Questions

I am not familiar with either the plotter, or the program. Having said that, I'd suggest that rather than wasting vinyl during the learning curve, substitute 24 inch paper and put a pen in place of the blade to practice with. This assumes the plotter will accept a pen. Paper is way cheaper than...
  7. What's the handiest gadget in your shop?

    Lettering brushes. bill preston
  8. problem with plotter

Not being familiar with your plotter, this is just a guess. It sounds as though your software is set to do a pounce pattern, rather than just cutting. If you are getting dashes all the way around each letter or piece of clipart, and if the blade is "chattering" up and down all the way through...
  9. Is this a good deal?

Tony, most any sign supplier should be able to get the cutting strips---also known as platen tape, or pincushion tape. You should also be able to get it direct from Ioline. The roll has enough to do my 24 incher, about two times with a little left over. Replacement parts I am not so sure about...
  10. Is this a good deal?

On the face of it, it sounds like a pretty good deal. I have been using an Ioline Classic 24 inch for over 9 years, and it has never let me down. If this is a fairly late model it may be such a thing as that it will cut from Corel directly. Mine will not, at least not without a bridge...
  11. Car Design Software

There are at least two such deals that I know of. One is fairly inexpensive, and I don't know beans about it, other than I found their catalogue listing the vehicles a bit hard to get around in. It comes out of Europe, and lists a lot of vehicles not sold on this side of the pond. Digital Auto...
  12. Signlab 5 -unknown error +font

Reinstalling Windows may be the tipoff here. If I remember right---always room for doubt there---- the fonts have to be loaded into the Windows fonts folder, as well as Signlabs fonts folder. Don't know why, it seems redundant. Anyway, if Signlab fonts folder shows the fonts to be present, the...
  13. todays mid-day newbie

Hello, Stephanie, and welcome. You might also consider Mark Smith's EstiMate pricing program. I have heard a lot of good things about it, though I don't use it myself. As one of the "older curmudgeons" only doing vehicles nowadays, don't really feel the need for such a program. Been at it for...
  14. Ioline studio 8 opinions?

Have had a Classic 24 for 9 years without problems other than in the beginning wide material would occasionally belly up in the middle and get ripped. Ioline provided 2 additional pinch rollers of a bit lighter spring tension, so now I use the originals at the edges, and the other two somewhere...
  15. Which Vinyl Cutter do you recoment

Everyone has his/her favorite based on their own experiences. Some also have opinions on cutters they wouldn't go near if they were paid to buy them. Bad experiences, usually. I've had an Ioline Classic 24 for 9 years this month--no problems. Have to admit, I don't probably run as much vinyl...
