  1. Removing large vinyl from light up sign

It's not a large face. Ghosting should be minimal with it being in reverse. Just inform client before hand about it.. and give them the choice between reface and new face. I'd toss it face up in the sun for a couple hours the rays will soften the glue and you can peel the old vinyl right off...
  2. Materials for replacing a decal on an awning

To me the way the white oxidation rain stains look... I'd say it's a flex face material and not a fabric canvas cover. Clean it well and use a quality cast film 751 or 951. It on a blue ground and doubt it's back lit and if it is.. not a real need for translucent. But the best way to confirm...
  3. Paint for glass and gilding backing up?

T.J Ronan Paints are a bit more like the 1-Shot of old as far as coverage, can add a little hardener to it when working glass or line over the edges with spar. But for gold glass back-up check out letterheadsignsupply they carry many hard to find products for the trade.

He cut an outline of the lettering, scroll and other design elements then painted it black. Once dried he water gilded over the letters, hence the need for the drops of soap added to...
  7. Reverse glass people... tell me what I did wrong!

Techman Then you've never read the book Gold Leaf Techniques. It's used when you have to flow water size over a painted outline like when doing a Boston Gild over oil sized matte centers in one gild in the field. For traditional work no soap is used, you place your pattern, lay the leaf then...
  8. Reverse glass people... tell me what I did wrong!

SSD, If your size is crawling your glass is not clean, the size should sheet in a curtain down the glass. Ammonia, Distilled Water and Bon-Ami is all I use no fancy per-made concoctions. Beyond that looks like your technique needs some work. From the looks of it your transferring the leaf to...
