  1. How do you handle color matching with clients?

Most times you've got to set the customer's expectations when selling the project. Colors are not easy and although I'm glossing over what I do I think you'll get the point. Eventually, you'll figure out what's best for your business. I have mostly local customers and do two different things...
  2. HP L26500 repeated printhead installation error

I usually keep the old print head and if there's a problem I swap it back in to see if things change.
  3. Subcontracting Question

I've heard of doing it for wraps but not for typical stuff like door lettering. I don't want to complicate things but maybe this other company simply doesn't want to do very basic stuff because it's not their thing - some companies like to specialize and be able to refer customers so they get...
  4. Signs 365

I don't know where everyone is located but out here on the East coast every day I'm seeing the news covering the container ships just sitting out there in the Pacific just waiting to unload. I first started seeing the shortage a couple of months ago while ordering PVC post sleeves. Now it's...
  5. shipping issues

Sounds like an opportunity for some enterprising people to open plants in the USA. After all, this doesn't sound like its going to resolve itself anytime soon.
  6. Looking for Website Design & Cost

I know you don't mean that but anyway, you really only need a fraction of what you just said. You just need to know what you need to know to get the job done. A brochure website would be HTML, CSS, and maybe JS. Then you would use some underlying technology like Bootstrap. A problem arises...
  7. A Question on Gemini

When I called Gemini, I was told that they sued because of the use of their name and lost the case because it was twin brothers that owned the company i.e. the zodiac sign for twins is Gemini. Go figure.
  8. Sign Making Capabilities

If you're asking this question to try and get a consensus regarding what direction to take your business then don't give the answers much weight because everyone's business and location is different so their product mix is different. If you're curious then I would've like a CNC - even a small...
  9. A Question on Gemini

I came upon one of those knockoff name sites years ago. I had a difficult time distinguishing the knockoff from the real Gemini - it took some investigation and a call to gemini to sort it out. I called Gemini because I thought they may be selling retail using the knockoff site.
  10. A Question on Gemini

Spoke to Gemini about a week ago. I understand that its not so much a materials supply problem but instead its a people problem. They are having issues finding workers. I've started adding extra lead time to jobs.
  11. Looking for Website Design & Cost

1-5 pages works for a sign company that is not in the vehicle wrap or electrical sign part of this business. One landing page for general info, your product page, and a contact page - that's all that's needed. Vehicle wrap and electrical are in an adwords class that has some giddyup otherwise...
  12. Looking for Website Design & Cost

Sounds like you'll manage this site yourself because you seem to have a URL and at least a shared server? Are you planning on owning the code for your website? If you are subbing the site out and your budget is not in the thousands then will need a small (even one-person) SEO/SEM agency...
  13. Does anyone use the SignCraft price guide?

I came to the same conclusion a few years back when I developed my own spreadsheet for calculating pricing. Once design and labor became part of the equation it was crazy to do otherwise than outsource. Then again, I don't own the means of production or have a crew ready to do what S365 does.
  14. Does anyone use the SignCraft price guide?

I use it for a baseline. I will not use any sign pricing software. I use a spreadsheet that I developed over the years which allows me to set GPM on individual components and add in labor, design, etc. When I started doing that I was amazed at how much $$$ I was leaving on the table. It was an...
  15. FastSigns and Signs365 and Gemini

Perhaps you're assuming too much. Sometimes relationship plays a part. What if you were the same price but they liked FS? You just can't assume every customer purchases based on price. It just doesn't work that way. Thinking everyone purchases based on price is what gets this industry in trouble.
