Is it too expensive or are you not charging enough? We sell a fair amount of the Roland Adhesive backed paper as well as the General Formulations. If its the right material for the job and produces high quality output, you should not be in a position where you arent making profit on it.
Rule of thumb.
Always have one on the shelf for every one in the machine. If you are able to burn through a entire Yellow ink in a day or the time it will take to get one replaced on an SP-540V I would suggest getting a more production based model or using 440ml inks

Disconnect all the cables going to the head and the board. check all the pins on the cables to make sure none are bent or broke. Reseat them slowly and properly and repower up the machine.

Stay where you are.
I've seen people come to me who love this industry, respect it and have a PASSION for making money doing what they love.
Then I see other people just buy a printer because they think you just sit back and hit print and get rich.
Wanna know who lasts more than 5 years?
get yourself some Roland cleaning cartridges (Not anyone elses) and syringe the fluid through the lines and let it sit there overnight, then pull it through. Change dampers and cap tops, maybe even heads no matter what and do a head wash.
A Lot of people will say that's costly, but with all...
