Yep.. that was definitely it.. I did another manual cleaning around the heads and made sure there were no stray fibers from the swabs or anything else and sure enough all good now. Thx!
  2. Ink splatter drops on SP300v

Hi all, I've been seeing some ink splatter drops on my prints.... I'd see them time to time but they seem to be getting worse now and I'm not sure what the cause it. I thought it was the wipers so I cleaned them fully but that didn't really help. I just did a full maintenance mode cleaning a...
  3. SP300v started drifting as it prints

Hot damn! I took some advice from another thread user saying he just flipped the encoder tape upside down and put it back that way and his worked... after all the fumbling I did to get that to work, I managed to get it back on and BOOM we are printing again perfectly! thx all for the help and...
  4. SP300v started drifting as it prints

Well spent the last few hours trying to get it working again. I cleaned the scale yet again with 91% alcohol and tried running the Linear Encoder Setup in the service mode... That failed... so I just kept cleaning and retrying and finally the encoder setup passed... now its pretty much back to...
  5. SP300v started drifting as it prints

I read that solvent clean was bad as it might remove the actual lines on the tape. I did switch to 91% alcohol with better results... don't see the streaks anymore. I actually took the encoder tape out and cleaned it.. but all the fumbling to get it back in likely didn't help. Now it's slightly...
  6. SP300v started drifting as it prints

Well I see many videos talking about using alcohol pads to clean the encoder strip.... so I did that ... and now it's MUCH MUCH worse :P. I see the streaks that the pads leave behind so its not surprising. Not sure why there are streaks from an alcohol pad but I've burned through about 25...

where is the encoder? -EDIT- I guess this is it
  8. SP300v started drifting as it prints

I've had this printer for about 2.5 years now and its been ol' reliable. I clean it about once per month as I don't print all that much (maybe 6-8 posters per month) Lately, and not always, while printing it seems like its drifting off to the side. I thought maybe it was the media not feeding...
  9. Question Is there a comparison study on vinyl cutter registration systems? (ARMS vs OPOS vs barcode, etc)

Hey all.. I'm looking to get a vinyl cutter. I already have a printer and a laminator My workflow will be 1. Print on my printer with registration marks/barcode/whatever (via Flexi) 2. Laminate with my laminator 3. Line up the marks with the cutter and have it contour cut from Flexi I did buy...
  10. How can I remove the contour outline from print, but keep it for the cut path?

  11. How can I remove the contour outline from print, but keep it for the cut path?

Ah I saw that earlier but took a bit to figure out how to select only the circle but not the path with it. Got it now.. Thanks!
  12. How can I remove the contour outline from print, but keep it for the cut path?

Take this example picture. I want to print the entire picture but contour cut where the red line is So I select that red circle layer and choose Effects->contour cut and it selects it correctly for the cut path. But I don't want that red circle to be printed. So how do I delete the red...
  13. Need Help Roland SP-300v printing gradients very blocky

It's a jpg 150 dpi from photoshop.... its the same file that I've used many times with other printers (they had an XC 540) and it worked fine there. So I don't think its the file
  14. Need Help Roland SP-300v printing gradients very blocky

I'm not sure that's an option for my printer. Seems like 2bit is the highest it goes
