  1. Anyone try out Affinity Designer for Windows

Yeah I've been playing around with Affinity Designer for a bit. What really blows me away, aside from the UI, is live masking that takes place with vectors as you modify them. I tried my best to break it, and I couldn't find an issue with how it rendered anything I threw at it. It's going to...
  2. DO NOT TRUST INKMED.CN I got a DOA printhead for JV3

Y'all, argue for a refund, but to call Inkmed untrustworthy over a printhead is really petty. I was leary about going with a Chinese supplier, but went to Inkmed for parts after a VERY trusted VERY well known domestic supplier on this board sold us FOUR doa heads. I haven't had any issues with...
  3. Switching from RasterLink 2 to OnyxRIP

The RIP resolution is tied to whatever print profile you're using at any given time. While you can change the variants of that resolution on the fly (number of passes, travel speed), you can only change the resolution by changing the profile. If none of the supplied profiles offer you the...
  4. JV3 parallel communicaton issues

This is a known issue with a parallel connection to the JV3. You can try to set the refresh rate to nothing, but it waiting doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong going on other than a really slow transfer.
  5. Weird head behavior - JV3-250SP

No problem! Final (hopefully) update: Two weeks in, and absolutely no issues. The printer's running better than ever, and now I have another way to diagnose a very specific problem. :toasting:
  6. Weird head behavior - JV3-250SP

Okay, I think I've solved the issue. Gutted the capping/wiper area and sopped up the mess that was left from the heads refreshing a good 6" away from the capping station. Re-wired some of the switches whose wires were compromised by solvent. Removed the encoder sensor and cleaned it. Replaced...
  7. Weird head behavior - JV3-250SP

Multiple issues happening at the same time, including overspray in the cyan, but the one I really need to tackle is the head carriage gradually moving further and further to the left. Printing in unidirectional, 360x540, 6-pass and 720x1440 16-pass Can't reproduce issue with data cable swap...
  8. ERR Scan - Help

Just ran into this myself, Dave. When you turn the printer on, hold down the left and right arrows until you hear it beep. Instead of doing a normal boot-up, it'll bring you right to the parameter adjustment menu. From there press up or down to select the parameter you want to adjust, and enter...
  9. JV3 Parts NO More!!

Heard the same thing from one of our reps almost a year ago. Third party suppliers should have our backs, but they're not going to stock everything forever.
  10. Mimaki JV3-160SP Print Head Replacement - Help Needed!

    My first response. "PRN.adjust2"
  11. Mimaki JV3-160SP Print Head Replacement - Help Needed!

Everybody will have a different way that works for them, but I try to eyeball it best to make sure the head is as centred as possible, do a test print, loosen the front Allen screw, adjust, test print, repeat. The software adjust will only do so much, so you should start from a place that's as...
  12. Mimaki JV3-160SP Print Head Replacement - Help Needed!

LOCAL > Function > #Adjust > #HeadID Adjustment should be done manually first, and when you've found a spot that doesn't overlap onto other areas of the test pattern, run an alignment from inside the #Adjust menu, at "PRN.adjust2".
  13. Some color theory plz

Start with theory. Once you get the theory down, you can worry about selecting what works best for what scenario.
  14. Screws Scratching Heads?

Definitely happens. Been a serious pain for me as well. Sometimes, if there's a build-up of ink around the head, the teeth on the capping station will catch the head assembly as it returns to dock, pulling the station back and up prematurely. This'll cause the heads to line up with the screws...
  15. The Liquor Control Board of Ontario has a new 500,00.00 logo

Looks like Leo Burnett did it. Articles I've read make no mention of ongoing development being included in the price, only that they were brought on board to make sure the new brand matches the direction of their slogan. Guh. Look at that client list... Bell, TD, P&G. I've no problem with...
