  1. Tips for applying 12Mil laminate?

It's hard to troubleshoot without knowing your laminating process... Are you attempting to lam the vinyl, or are you applying the vinyl to the sign first and then laminate over that, with the sign acting as a skid? If you are laminating the vinyl first, you should try less pressure (20-40%) and...
  2. Need advice for a new laser cut machine

Lots of cutting... 1" acryic, solid wood, ply, foam, silicone, 3/8" steel (rated for 3/16" with nice edge), stainless, aluminum, and so on. It's also nice for engraving wood up to 1" deep, and we have the 4th axis so I'm tempted to make a replica of Gandelfs' staff. :)
  3. Mustang Viper Stripes

Kudos for giving your customers realistic timelines. :thumb:
  4. Need advice for a new laser cut machine

You can't go wrong with Epilog or Kern. How thick is the acrylic you want to cut? How deep do you want to engrave in silicone and metal? What type of metals do you want to engrave and cut? All of that information is important when deciding on a laser, as you will have more limitations...
  5. All American Outdoors...

That turned out beautifully. ...and you have the 4th axis on your multicam? :)
  6. About Dee sign…..

I checked the site to see if it would be viable to produce some for you. Their price is actually pretty good. Don't think we can compete with that. Sorry :(
  7. Need help deciding on which machine to choose.

1st choice, Roland. 2nd choice, Summa. I would settle with whatever you can get a better deal on, unless you don't care about the price tag. They're both excellent machines.
  8. Word Scramble

If you're looking for a script, I don't know of one for Illustrator, but there are some built-in nesting options in various CAD software, like Rhino, Mastercam, etc. Manually resizing and rotating text in AI doesn't take much time, and this seems like a bit of a one-off, so may not be worth...
  9. Mustang Viper Stripes

While I see your point (wow that's a beautiful car), the guy still has to make a living. Turning away customers because they're 'doing it wrong' isn't great for business. Lol ...and in 1966 they did have vinyl. Not adhesive vinyl, but still. :)
  10. All American Outdoors...

Wow, looking really nice! Out of curiosity, what are you using for a sealer?
  11. Mustang Viper Stripes

Kind of confused by your request of information for size and placement. It's a stripe... As for material suggestions see this thread: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?11493-what-s-best-vinyl-brand-for-car-roof-stripe I personally recommend Avery SC900 cast 12yr, but some 3M is...
  12. Routing with a flatbed cutter

This is a good idea. You can also use bad/scrap full sheets of pvc or acrylic 3mm (1/8") and route a grid of 1" diameter holes with 1" spacing all the way across the sheet to allow the vacuum to continue to work. Doesn't take very long and usually lasts quite a while if you are careful with...
  13. Any Zund S3 owners?

    Yes.
  14. Windows 10

Thanks for that. Explains why it's free.
  15. Small sandblasted signs with colors

+1 to getting away from color. 3/4" solid maple or red oak laser etched 3/8-1/2" deep, laser contour cut, and then clear coat will look pretty awesome as well.
