  1. Questions about Flexi / HP PrintManager

Thanks. I was watching and asked "Surely I can just drag this into Production Manager right?" and he said no. :) Unfortunately I get the feeling that even though I have more years print experience, and have advised appropriate colour management and other adjustments / workflows, since I'm "new"...
  2. Questions about Flexi / HP PrintManager

Hey team, long time no chat. Recently I've picked up some lil' part time work at a print shop and I'm trying to transition from my VersaWorks mindset to HP Flexi mindset - but it seems like Flexi/Project Manager is ridiculously and unnecessarily more complex than it has to be - or I'm just not...
  3. How often do you replace mist filter for your Roland?

We run a Roland XR-640, just wondering when you folks would replace your mist filter? I like a clean machine so I probably replace it more often than it needs - basically when it looks "full".
  4. Matte or Gloss overlaminate for longevity

We use matte for everything (except vehicles) unless client requests otherwise. Matte just looks higher quality, and plus it doesn't have any glare on storefront signage. Only exception is a place where we know it's likely to get scuffed by shoes or need a lot of cleaning, since we personally...
  5. Can you decode this logo?

Ahh you know what, I think you're right. Client said "make the swooshes show the bean going into a bag and around the world!" And the designer only knew how to make swooshes by using the ellipse tool.
  6. Can you decode this logo?

My first thought was that it looked like a fat telescope with a fat tripod. And a ball on the ground. But now that you've mentioned this: Absolutely that. I make logos like this a lot by accident :D
  7. Identifying the cause of issue

Well that would explain that then.
  8. Identifying the cause of issue

Hey crew, hope you're staying well. Trying to identify the vinyl/installation issue with these little baby bacon wrinkles around this light. Any ideas on how to avoid this? Are we using the wrong vinyl (it's cast Avery) or the wrong technique, or both? Installer has dropped 3M Primer down...
  9. Hovering Clients

When we're installing/whatever, I don't mind when they're chatting or just quietly watching (though I'd much prefer them not be there). BUT I absolutely hate having a client telling me how to do it, or worse - trying to get their hands in there. Our shop only has one guy, and he's usually out...
  10. Question Has anyone tried 3M IJ175CV3 ?

Chopped some lil' text today on the SLX+ and didn't really mind it - weeding was a lot better than SLX , no flying letters. We didn't get as small as .25", as it was a cursive font and just a silly test anyway. I think I still like the 1105 better, honestly, but a good product.
  11. Question Has anyone tried 3M IJ175CV3 ?

Wow, that's pretty much everything out of stock. What did you have to go with? I've heard both of these. This afternoon I've got some SLX+ with a range of text from 5"h down to .25"h (lol) so we'll see today!
  12. Question Has anyone tried 3M IJ175CV3 ?

Yes also to add to this ancient thread, we recently had to try Arlon SLX+ because it was all that was available on short notice, and it wasn't bad. Installer was hesitant about it, but it worked great and printed well. so I really can't complain. Didn't have a chance to try cutting anything tiny...
  13. Question Vinyl on Perf

Hey folks, here's a specific question - we've got a client looking to fully perf their windows on the outside (+laminated), but they also want to have temporary month long special stickers (think 18x24" decals) stuck to the windows to change out. We're not in charge of sending these posters, so...
  14. Cutting ACM

We've used the table saw for a while, but boy the Keen Cut has made ACM (and other substrates) easy breezy.
  15. Lamination problems

What kind of laminator set up do you have? I find that our media really makes a difference. For instance, some of the cores don't fit snug on our laminator, and when there's less left on the roll the tension is negatively affected. We also find stripping the backer paper roll in a timely manner...
