  1. Updating Firmware on GX-500 cutter

Thanks! It's just guessing about why I get that error when I try to run the firmware updater. I'm a few years out of warranty so I wanted to avoid an expensive service call :-) I wondered if anyone has tried to update the firmware on their GX series recently and had similar issues.
  2. Calibrating CAMM-1 GX-500 and SJ-740

I've never been too impressed with the accuracy of the GX-500, but now it seems to be even more off than usual. Is there a guide to how to calibrate the Camm-1 Pro/ GX-500? I use it with an SJ-740.
  3. Updating Firmware on GX-500 cutter

have a windows 10 system, running 32 bit windows. I am trying to update the firmware on my GX-500, downloaded from here Roland Care Service & Support | Roland When I try to view the PDF, I get a message the PDF is corrupt. When I try to run the firmware update program, I get an error message...
  4. order management??

Smartsheet Check out Smartsheet. It combines Excel-like functions, reporting, project management ( including Kanban cards), and web forms all in one package. Check out their website here https://www.smartsheet.com?u=ZA10462347&s=5&c=500 Not dedicated to sign shops, but it seems like it does...
  5. any quick way to round corners in ai design?

Thanks - it's great on square objects but I noticed it really distorts curves ( for example, an "S" looks very distorted even with a very small radius after I apply that effect)
  6. any quick way to round corners in ai design?

I've got a ai design file for a cut letter job with a lot of sharp edges. My Roland cutter, even with smoothing on, tends to tear on sharp turns. Is there an easy way to globally change all the corners in the design to be slightly rounded so they will cut better, or does this need to be done...
  7. Remove painted letters from fiberglas truck top

Hi, I'm agreed to help someone remove painted lettering from a fiberglas truck canopy. Really old & faded, but done by sign painter many years ago. How would you remove it? I've read either use acetone or Easy Off... seems like either one might damage gel coat? Or is removing gel coat going to...
  8. A colour matching issue.

True, there is the best theoretical way of doing things, and then there is "what is the quickest way of getting this done that will make the customer happy that I can do and afford" :-) I've got a spectrometer, gone that route, but in practice for me the combinations of media/laminate/profiles...
  9. A colour matching issue.

I've been playing around with a developing a web app to help with spot color matching. I'd be interested to see if it's helpful for you or others http://spotcolormatch.com Might be a lilttle flaky while I work some issues out, but it's free... Thanks, Mike
  10. Creating color samples around a pantone

I'd like to create a range of samples around a pantone to find the best match, maybe 50 samples from -10% for R, G, B up to +10% RGB. Basically printing a matrix of color samples that step through the combinations and picking the closest one. Is there a good way to do this in Illustrator other...
  11. Fellers = CheetahWrap

Obviously undercutting your customers seems like a pretty bad idea. But I would imagine you can always go to your fellers rep and ask them to beat/match that pricing. At the very least, it would be funny to hear why they couldn't. That said, there's still the issue of getting an installer if...
  12. Suggestion for permanent vinyl install on primered wall

I'd think so too, but manufacturers of wall films say 3+ weeks after painting!
  13. Suggestion for permanent vinyl install on primered wall

I've done a number of installs with phototext, love it. But this customer has a flat, interior sheetrock wall in a high traffic area, and they want something permanent and harder for kids to pull/remove. Normally, I've only installed on painted walls, gloss/semigloss. In this case, the wall is...
  14. Display complete filename in q?

Thanks - You've got a very good system there. We could always rename, it's just kind of ridiculous that Versaworks can't handle such a basic task as displaying a complete long filename if I'm keeping the customer's existing filename.
  15. Display complete filename in q?

I have some very long file names and Versaworks truncates the right side of them. If it's an individual file, you can hover over it to see the full name, but if it's in nest job, it apparently isn't possible, the hover only displays the nest job name, no matter what file the mouse is hovering...
