  1. GS6000 Color profiling

    What RIP are you using?
  2. Caveat Emptor: (Thinking of buy Wasatch Softrip?)

The RIP is fine but I don't like Wasatch customer relations and policies as well. What bugged me the most is that if you buy a newly released printer they will force you to buy the latest version instead of offering on-demand drivers for a lesser cost, like other RIP makers do.
  3. Whats the best vinyl for car windows

Nobody uses 3M 3690? I find it's the best for teflon coated windows.
  4. GS6000 take-up

How much would that "modification kit" be worth? It seems to me only the flanges are problematic, the take-up is pretty cheap but is okay. I called Epson and they were really clueless about the issue. I guess I'll try and order the Mutoh flanges.
  5. Mimaki JV5 - Take up Reel

Yup, this is a very real problem with the JV5. You may notice the media will always skew on the same side. I'd always get a "bubble" on the right. I shimmed the take up on the left. With trial and error I was able to make it better but I found that this machine requires pretty much constant...
  6. HP Latex printer.

@BigfishDM, I really need to know what the problem was. We're still looking to buy a new printer and I don't want to be beta tester of some new tech. @Ramsus, please explain in more detail what is that problem you're having with heat. What kind of media is affected? Do the media get permanently...
  7. Need some help with Onyx

Hey guys. I've been working with Wasatch for 4 years and I want to try Onyx. I drive a Seiko 64S and a Mimaki JV5 with this rip, doing trailers wraps and billboards mostly. Now, the Onyx website is a mess a not informative at all. I'm not sure if I should go with RipCenter, PrepEdge Pro or...
  8. Wall mural

If the wall is not painted yet you could go with something like 3M 3690 on the bare wall. I'm confident it would adhere admirably.
  9. L65500 Media

If you mean with UV flatbeds, then yes, with some medias (coroplast, styrene). With the exception of maybe Gerber's Solara Ion you don't even have to cross-hatch the print, just stick some aggressive tape to the print and pull it fast. The ink sticks to the tape rather the media.
  10. L65500 Media

We've been looking at this printer for a while. Avery and 3M both have their warranties out for the latex inks, same as most solvent inks, no biggie, but our main worry is regarding UV liquid clear. We've been in business with Nazdar for a while, screen printing liquid clear on our digital...
  11. jv3 160sp output is distorted

Is the distortion significant? 2.5 inch for what total length? I can think of two things; The front roller is pulling too hard, with the heater on the vinyl can become malleable and prone to physical stretching. Or the problem is with the rip. I have zero experience with Onyx, but sometime...
  12. White Dots appearing in prints

Did this happen in red zones only? It looks like fisheye. I would try lowering the magenta and yellow ink coverage, it certainly couldn't hurt and I'm pretty positive you could have a red as vibrant while being less "liquid", and saving ink in the process. Otherwise, I printed thousands of roll...
  13. White Dots appearing in prints

It could also be your ink coverage that's too high for the type of material you're using. Too much ink will cause fisheye. Try lowering ink coverage and raising the pre and printing temperature.
  14. Hp Latex Printers

    Any significant cons so far?
  15. JV3 160sp Banding gets worse as carriage goes left

Did you have a head strike lately? The carriage could have taken a hit and it's possible it would have bended from it's origin. Just a couple micrometers off could result in pretty drastic changes in print quality.
