  1. Time travel - gerber 4B question

    Thanks!
  2. Another Hand Painted for the "Old School" here.

Nice work. When I read "corrugated" I thought it was that vintage wavy stuff that had no flat places. Work the tip of the brush and concentrate all day. Or if it was aluminum, you could use Spray-Lat mask, then cut and spray. Man that was a long time ago.
  3. Time travel - gerber 4B question

I'm mostly a hand lettering guy, but I have a few friction feed plotters. I have a job that needs 2 inch wide red stripes on a horse trailer, and I'm not sure about tracking on long pieces of vinyl. So I dug the old 4B out of storage. It's been so long since I used it that the keys stick in the...
  4. anyone own a uscutter plotter?

Here's my situation: 30 years in the trade, I'm no newby. I started with hand lettering, and I'm going back to it. Well, away from vinyl anyway. I paint big stuff, heavy equipment, commercial buildings, etc. On some of them I still do lettering. I use plotters about twice a month, if that. I...
  5. Mystery plotter...

Hmmm, didn't think about the DOS part. Still, even if connected via serial to a Win 2000 box, there should at least be a "found new hardware" message pop up when the cutter is connected, and turned on, but there isn't. That's the problem I'm dealing with now. I've swapped drivers around...
  6. Mystery plotter...

Sarge, I was wondering about the port on the machine, not the computer. I have a bunch of different cables lying around, there may be one I haven't tried yet. It definitely is a cutter machine, because the action is tangetal, no need to lift a pen at the corners. John L, pretty simple, the tool...
  7. Mystery plotter...

Bump... I dusted this machine off last night, and started tinkering with it again, I got further along than before, I can reliably run the test plot, and this machine is in great shape. At this point I have 3 questions, can anybody help me out? 1: Is the HPGL driver mentioned above the same...
  8. Mystery plotter...

I got ahold of Newing-Hall support, here is what they said: ************************ We have never supplied drivers for the Accutrac 439. Software manufacturers always took care of it. Basically need a driver that will send HPGL to the plotter. Baud rate settings and such may need to be...
  9. Mystery plotter...

Fred and Andy, it sounds as though what you're talking about is very close. Thanks for the info. I'm going to try and post an image here, it might take a few tries. The long grit roller is in great shape, but I'm concerned about how the blade holder (red Mcdealy) holds the blade right over...
  10. Mystery plotter...

I got hold of a plotter from a freind, I don't know yet whether it works, but it shows promise. On the housing, it says "ADC sign runner 5000". There are no other stickers and such, and a Google search was negative. Then I found a sticker inside that says "Newing Hall Inc." That did turn up some...
  11. Ol-l-l-ld 4B project

Cool Jill, that will probably help.
  12. Ol-l-l-ld 4B project

Thanks Fred. Does anyone know about this error 14?
  13. Ol-l-l-ld 4B project

Hey all. I'm new here, my name is Jim. Got a glitch with the ol' plotter, but first, man, those are some :cool1: smilies. I've long had some ideas for custom smilies, but hey, that can wait. A freind on another forum told me to come here and look for a guy called plotter doctor(?). I figure I...
