  1. Onyx Not Ripping

I know this is a really old thread now, but I was having the same issue and fixed it using a different method, hopefully it's helpful to anyone in a similar bind in the future! I'd recently been learning a lot and experimenting with Color Management, GCR, skeleton black, etc., and had made a...
  2. Just In So, does this look kosher....................................... ??

I mean, if they're not asking you for cash, I can't see what would go wrong with telling them you didn't give permission for the use of your name? Once you have to "pay a fee" to retain the name, that's where I'd be a bit more dubious!
  3. Summa D-Series botching circles?

These decals are kiss cut. In the example provided, the material was IJ680 (thick reflective material), however the material is irrelevant as this issue has occurred on various substrates (IJ180, 3M 1080/2080, Gerber 220, etc.) Usually only happens with larger curves.. The cut seems very...
  4. Summa D-Series botching circles?

Hi all, Long time reader, first time poster! So to get down to the brass tacks, my Summa plotter (Summa D-Series) has been cutting bits off the edges of circles, seemingly at random. Sometimes it'll botch the cuts, and other times it will cut the exact same print perfectly. When this happens, I...
  5. QUOTE HELP. I've never had a quote request like this.

I don't think there's any way to print end to end on a roll of material, with or without CutContour. In a scenario like this, I always try to convince the customer to scale down their decals to fit two side by side. They usually go down this road, as it is more cost effective and a difference of...
  6. Onyx 10 Media Type Mismatch

I have the the HP Latex 110, so I'm not sure how similar our printers are, but on mine on the main menu you can go into the substrate panel where you can see what substrate you have loaded. If the issue is not in Onyx it may be in that panel is my thought.
  7. Onyx 10 Media Type Mismatch

Could you upload a photo of the substrate info from the printer?
  8. Onyx 10 Media Type Mismatch

From what I can tell, you have the "substrate type" set to the same setting, but you're just changing the type of substrate under the media options panel. If you have a mismatch, it's because you have the wrong media selected, not that the substrate type of that media doesn't match. I'm using an...
  9. Recognize the font?

I like to use the WhatTheFont app for finding fonts that I don't know. At the very least it might give you the right family to look into. I've found it very useful in getting the design process started.
  10. Beer Bubbles

I feel that what makes it look more like soap bubbles is the size of the bubbles. A proper head is a smooth foam that is comprised of tiny tiny bubbles, so I feel that the top should look smooth (a flat line) rather than bubbling over the way you have it. Also as others have mentioned, filling...
  11. Discussion Can you believe it....................... ??

I guess you could do the same with a hard card, although I can only imagine the hand cramp you'd have after removing a larger graphic with something like that lol
  12. Discussion Can you believe it....................... ??

They've got these essentially plastic razor blades that are quite rigid (https://www.amazon.ca/Scraper-Window-Removing-Plastic-Blades/dp/B077TJ9LWN). I used them on the plastic bumper of an RV I was doing 30 yo graphics removal on. The eraser wheel would have burnt a hole straight through the...
  13. Discussion Can you believe it....................... ??

I would recommend the Eraser Wheel to take off the tape as well, then use some orange gel to remove the glue residue. If the surface underneath can be damaged with the heat put off by the friction, some tint scrapers can be pretty handy.
  14. QUOTE HELP. I've never had a quote request like this.

I usually give price breaks for increasing quantity sets (ie. They get a cumulative discount of 5% for every 50 decals they get up to a max of 20 %, 50 being 5%, 100 being 10%, so on). This method can be modified to start after a certain quantity as well (ie. They get a cumulative 5% discount...
  15. Font Help Help with font

I've found that if I'm ever in search for a font that I don't know, I like to use the "What the Font" app. All you do is take a picture of the typeface and it's usually fairly accurate in determining which one to use. It is run by myfonts.com, but once you have the name of the typeface, a quick...
