our roller is all weight based so I can't add pressure. Once the roller is down it's just the weight of the roller. I have noticed that I can get the straightest lam when I change out the backing paper take-up roll, so I am wondering if that is one of the causes when I attach the backing to the...
So I tried the hold the roll thing and it does get the lam to go straight and it helps but I have to constantly hold the roll for it to do so. As soon as I take my hand off it wants to pull in the one direction. Is that normally what you have to do with yours?
lol I used to have the tension cranked up so it didn't happen, and then we had issues with decals curling and laminate shrinking. But hey ill admit I am self-taught and having issues which is why I am posting here to try and find some like-minded folks to help point me in a direction I may have...
we bought the laminator used and its a cortech quality (never heard of them before)
it might be the backing take up. I usually get the best results when I start a fresh core. its a cold press so no heat available
I have tension on the roll as it goes and I load it straight as well. If I add any more tension, I will stretch the lam and it will want to de-lam later down the road
Hey Guys,
so i have always had issues when I laminate large prints (greater than 8ft) where everything starts on square and is laminating great and then my laminate starts to shift and skew. I can pull the laminate roll to the side and fix as its laminating but I shouldn't have to do that...
thanks for all your input guys. we ended up going with the 5650 Ra and then we paired it with DOL1360oz laminate. Ive attached some photos of the end results.
we use the 1360 for our laminate on vehicle wraps. I haven't had any issues. I guess the difference would be a moving vehicle vs a stationary sign and how exposed it is to the sun.
