    Prime the surface before applying the vinyl is another option. 3M 94 Primer works well.

    It is more the print media used that will determine the bruising or stretch. 3M IJ480 for example will stretch without the bruising far better than IJ180. I think more ink saturation could problems for you in regards to lamination and adhesion issues.

    IJ40 or 40C as they now call it...is for slight curves. Use some 94 primer around the buttons....good to go.

    Check the specs on the vinyl.....Google. Different vinyl have different temp minimums when applying. Or you can guess.

    A chop saw will/can work ....but if you are slicing reflective material...especially high intensity... the heat of the saw can melt the adhesive and cause issues.

    We also build the sled signs ...but we call them cradle signs. Depending on the size we also build them in pieces to transport. Very popular in this part of the country for property management groups and short term advertising.

    45-50K a year. If you want to keep him. Whatever you decide....I would make it worth it to him to want to stay and not be tempted to start his own shop with your clients. Seen it a thousand times......it has happened to me.
