Joe, very nice work, good to see some hand lettering for a chang.
I am also left handed and find it is an asset when doing slanted lettering on the inside of a glass window. I use a mahl stick for almost all my lettering.
I take light weight aluminum angle iron, and glue and screw to back of HDU. Place them vertically in position leaving 3-1/2" space for the 4 x 4, then screw thru the angles into the post.
Very nice. I have to ask what type of paint did you use? Years ago you could just use bulletin or lettering paint. However some newer metal siding is actually a vinyl, or some other type of coating. I have done test painting with poor results. The lettering enamel fails the "finger nail" test.
