  1. Sinalite is a POS! I need a new printer

Sinalite is great of you go into it with the correct expectations. They will almost always miss any rush deadlines, and their colour qc leaves much to be desired, therefore I don't use them for anything that need these 2 things. However for things like Coloplast yard signs, business cards...
  2. Need Help Plastic Sheeting Vinyl Attachment

Yes I agree, ABS is very hard to stick to. Contact Substance Vinyl, they specialize in vinyl for dirt bikes, snowmobiles etc. They should be able to help you pick something and send you samples. Is flatbed printing not an option? The labour time alone in applying 600 sheets of vinyl would...
  3. Photo to laser on a metal Tumbler

As someone who has been engraving for 30 years and has both c02 and fiber, the c02 is the correct choice for engraving yeti type tumblers, the fiber has the ability to etch into the metal which looks horrible, c02 just removes the powder coat.
  4. What are some ways to show gratitude to past clients?

Does anyone here actually use any of the million pieces of cheap swag we've been given over the years? I think the only thing I've used was a ceramic coffee mug, because I dropped my regular one and I found one a supplier dropped off in a box upstairs.
  5. Large Picture For Wall 24' L X 10' H Where To Start?

I agree, we use arlon 4600lx with matte lam for all our permanent wall graphics, no issues over the last 10 years in very high traffic hospitals.
  6. Vinyl by the yard

TCT sells everything by the yard or foot, and their pricing is a million times better than ND
  7. 3M40c Peeling

Judging by the photo, it looks like the laminate is causing the curling, how long after printing did you wait to laminate? Also check the tension on your laminator, it could be too high and causing the laminate to stretch when applied and then it shrinks and does this. Also, I've had issues...
  8. Your order pickup process

Our system is this: The work order is marked if the job is to be paid on pickup, or if it's for a client with established credit, whe the job is done, the person completing will give the work order to the bookeeper, she will contact the client that the job is ready for pickup and include an...
  9. How do you store / organize your overs?

I use hanging file folders, 1 for each client. i have a few clients that order say 200-300 decals from me at a time, i run them with other jobs and store them till they order, it works well.
  10. Back with more experience

first step is to figure out your shop rate, I think you might be suprized, I assumed mine would be around $75/hr because our overhead is lower, but when I ran the numbers we are actually at $135 / hr
  11. Epson SureColor S80600 - FULL COLOR DISAPPEARANCE

I've had this happen, it's most likely your capping station, the rubber seals wear out and no longer can create a seal to pull the ink through for cleanings.
  12. Suggestions Simple/Easy-ish software for ADA sign/dimensional sign mockups?

Hey Pat, are you looking for something to quickly take your design file and make a proof with measurements? If so the ecut pluging for corel does this really well, I just recently discovered this feature myself and it's saved me a bunch of time.
  13. Question Anyone finding purchasing departments are recently changing their policy regarding purchase orders?

Yeah I've noticed this as well, it doesn't make sense to me either, I try to explain but in the end I do what they tell me to do, on the plus side, their net 30 starts from the date the invoice was created, so that helps a bit.
  14. Wrapping an elevator interior - need some advice

Just an FYI, we've been contacted by the TSSA (not sure what the American equivalent is) about needing engineers approval before installing vinyl inside an elevator, apparently there are issues with weight and possible flammability that need to be approved before anything can be installed...
  15. Epson or Roland

I've had my s80600 for about 7 years, it still prints beautifully and I can get 3 full rolls of vinyl printed in a day if needed. We used to be a Roland only shop for years, but Roland screwed us around, if you do some searches on here you will see the recent Roland machines are plagued with...
  16. Epson or Roland

Between those 2, I would get the Epson, however keep in mind that you still will not be able to print florescent colors as it's not possible on a standard digital printer, but the Epson will give you a much better colour gammet than you currently have
  17. ADA Signage Install

This seems about right. If all the signs are the same size, try to make a jig for the spacing off the floor and distance from the door frame, it will cut your install time down by 2/3 and make it a 1 person job.
  18. 2023 Wrap Up. First Year Doing Sign Printing Business, No Experience, Gross 800K, Net 0, Need Advice!

I agree, your list of equipment would make a shop doing $10 million a year in sales jealous! Far too much upfront investment in equipment you don't need yet. Also I agree, if you are trying to do web2print, you would be much better off from a lower cost of living area of the country, possibly...
  19. Solvent smell on Epson S80600L's

Same, our S80600 is in it's own room 25'x20' and if i'm printing heavy coverage I can;t be in the room for more than 10 minutes without getting a headache, if you are printing on 3M IJ40c, the smell of the vinyl and ink lingers in our shop for almost a week for some reason...
  20. Brass Plaque source?

I think it's vinyl text, if you zoom in there are small bumps of dust under some letters.
