  1. $1000 van wrap

My guess is it's someone new to the industry. Back when I first started printing I was definitely guilty of not knowing how much to charge for some things. The first wrap I did was a 27' enclosed trailer, I removed the old graphics, designed the new one, printed and installed the new one for...
  2. Tech-Challenged Boss Reconciling Online Purchases

We use a service called Dext (used to be called receipt bank) where you can take a photo of a receipt in the app, or email your receipts to a designated email address and the system will automatically extract the data and push the information to QuickBooks, which will automatically reconsile it...
  3. Suggestions Hardware/install method for changeable leasing signs?

what if you used threaded inserts, they have a very course outer thread that would bite into 6mm ACM easily then just use machine bolts to fasten the panel on...
  4. Vinyl install toolbox

They look cheap because they ARE cheap, however I've learned that a $90 Ryobi drill and a $300 Dewalt drill both will break when dropped off a ladder, so the choice is yours.
  5. Vinyl install toolbox

Thanks everyone. What I'm trying to achieve is to have different tool boxes for different types of jobs, I have 1 that I use for interior signs that need to be installed with screws, but I'm looking for something smaller for vinyl installs that will hopefully be hands free (backpack or...
  6. Best Shop Management Software for Working with Multiple Product Catogories

A quoting solution similar to EstiMate built in filemaker would be amazing! We hired someone to build our filemaker solution but it does not handle estimating. It's been on my list of things to add, but the prospect seems daunting to me. A premade solution I can customize would be amazingly...
  7. Collapsible skid signs...

I like it! I doubt there would be enough force on the hinge to worry about.
  8. Vinyl install toolbox

I'm hoping someone can make some recommendations on tool boxes/bags that work for them. I do a lot of vinyl installs at local hospitals, anything from 8"x8" door decals to wall wraps. With hospitals parking is usually not very close and I'm having to haul the vinyl and tools fairly long...
  9. Best Shop Management Software for Working with Multiple Product Catogories

I had real issues trying to find an off the shelf product that worked for us for similar reasons, we do printing, engraving, cast plaques and a few other things all with different workflows. All the software companies say it's easy to set up and not an issue, but I never found it to work. In...
  10. One man shop growing pains

Realtors don't feel shame like real people, it comes from years of asking for a discount on a $40 sign...
  11. Need Help Bending aluminium composite Panels

There is a certain router bit that you need, it is a v bit but with a flat tip. You need to route through 99% of the plastic, then you should be able to easily bend it without snapping. Also make sure you are using the material with the thicker aluminum skin, the cheap stuff is basically...
  12. Ok, which one of you did this....................................................

Just like Cool Whip, the package calls it "an edible oil product" yummy!
  13. Laser cutter engraver questions.

We have 3 expensive laser machines because it's our bread and butter and they run all day every day. However there are quite a few middle of the road machines these days, American assembled and supported machines made with Chinese components, check out Boss Laser, Thunder, TTP, Rabbit Laser...
  14. Estimate and Accounting Software

Is it possible to build an app with filemaker then deploy it as a standalone "program" where the user does not need filemaker installed?
  15. Question What's your equipment setup?

It depends on what you are trying to do, both have their pros and cons, but on the whole I prefer the trotec.
  16. Need Help Epson 80600 & 80600L Print Gutter/Color Bar width, adjustable?

A word of warning, if you use the gutter marks and will be cutting the graphic out on a summa flatbed, don't, it messes up the location of the cut lines, I found this out after printing 3 full rolls in a rush for a client, loaded them in the cutter and it cut the bottom 2" off each panel.
  17. HP named America’s Most Responsible Company!

Lol yup, we actually engrave awards for a company who does this, they contact companies and tell them they have been chosen as the best (realtor, insurance agent etc.) in their city, to celebrate for the low price of $2500 you can get an engraved glass award for your office and an ad in their...
  18. When "your" customers get signage elsewhere

I have some staff members that don't know everything we do,so I can't expect a customer to. As for the clients ordering from places like vistaprint or similar, most likley they remembered in the evening that they needed stickers for something and it's just as easy to order them from Vista than...
  19. Bleed?

I always print window graphics 1/32" smaller than the actual measurement, it makes install so much easier and no one notices the graphic is 1/64" away from the edge..
  20. Bleed?

It depends on what the prints are being used for, if thry are being mounted to a substrate (ACM etc. ) a 0.5" bleed is more than enough, if it's a wall graphic in an older building I can see needing a 1.5" bleed, however that information should have been given to you, for them to say "add bleed"...
