That looks like a drop of ink from ink accumulating on the bottom of the head and dripping when it has enough mass. Usual causes are a hair or fuzz on the head or accumulation on the wiper or flushing sponge (as has been said by others). Worth asking, when is the last time you ran a cleaning...
This right here... Also, avoid any repositionable vinyl if possible. As to best vinyl for digital print and easy weeding, right now just finding other than wrap vinyl in stock is a big challenge
Graphtec makes solid workhorse plotters with great prices. If you can afford it, go 30" or wider as that will allow you to expand your capabilities down the road. We have an ancient 30" which was retired once and brought back out when a Roland 30" died. We also have a FC9000-160 60" that can...
We use UPS for most shipping needs, FedEx occasionally, but recently we had a customer wanting us to ship a 4'x8' MDO sign. We searched and priced around and ended up using a company called T-Force (basically a division of UPS) as UPS was high and T-force Freight was a quarter of that -...
Know this too well. Have found that Oracal 3751RA and 3951RA (both without ProSlide) work well - better than regular Avery Cast vinyl. Arlon will work if it is warm enough when applied, otherwise it will trap moisture and create water bubbles. Rollering edges is a big help. If the tank is wet...
We cold laminate, and it is much easier to handle. Plus 290 is a top notch UV laminate with 4 year UV / 8 year durability guarantee. It is a wrap laminate and can stretch up to120%. Just excellent all around.
head alignment, specifically bi-directional calibration. The double image effect is most likely from ink laid in one direction not lining up to ink in the laid in the other
With 3Ms window films, it is best to read their pdf on the product first. That said, we have always applied them wet using Rapid Tac and a hard squeegee with a felt wrapped edge. If material is masked, then keep the working side dry until you have pushed all the water out - then wet it before...
Greased Lightning is what we use to prep steel for painting. Best to follow with alcohol to make sure the detergent from the Greased Lightning is gone.
There used to be, and maybe still is, a 3951 that is neither Rapid Air not ProSlide - that might be the one you used years ago. We have used both 3751RA and 3951RA and can tell no difference between those. Neither is what we use to actually wrap a vehicle - for that we would use Arlon SLX plus...
We laminate most things if they are likely to be up for a few years, but we don't laminate Real Estate Signs or other temporary signs. For instance, we never laminate coroplast and almost never foam board or gatorboard signs.
We have a FluidColor flatbed printer. It gives the choice of leading...
We print on Aluminum and Composites all the time. A good prep is Solv S1000 surface cleaner prep. Another is Supply55 adhesion promoter. But some suppliers sell digital ready panels already prepped from the factory.
Arlon 3270 Gloss laminate would be a better choice. SLX+ is awesome vinyl.
Matte cleans up surprisingly well with Windex or Simple Green.
I have never put a ceramic coating on Matter laminate, but I see someone else recommends. Will have to try that.
... and they last 20 years or more... We keep one around because we still use a Gerber Edge, but otherwise we would not need a sprocket-feed plotter and would add another 30" Graphtec with pinch rollers. We currently have one ancient 30" and one newer 60" Graphtec plotter and they are awesome -...
1. Race car - we mostly use intermediate and don't laminate as they change them once per year. For car graphics otherwise we use cast and laminate with cast (gloss)
2. We do more in cast than calendared and we are split between gloss and matte lamination
3. We would use cast and gloss laminate...
I may have muddled one thing - The Roland can cut, but the Graphtec can handle small stuff much better and large stuff has fewer places where the cut did not close. The Graphtec with a new bland can cut tiny stuff.
