  1. Need Help Police car graphics

Getting into the sign business because there seems to be a lot money to be made is the wrong reason. Gino may seem mean, but He's a real sign man and a good one. I can tell by his posts. Notarealsignguy is just being funny. You better have a sense of humor if you want to make it in this...
  2. Disposal of old panels

I like the way zspace is thinking. The creative mind can come up with a myriad of uses for old ACM. If you can't, someone in your rural area will think of something. The water hose caddie on the back of my house is made from ACM. Painted to match the siding; Looks real nice. Half a dozen small...
  3. Wrapped PVC

Did a Roulette Wheel many moons ago. Used a ball bearing lazy Susan topped with PVC for the wheel, on PVC background. Experimented with several materials till I settled on a piece of old shoe leather for the flipper. It had that perfect tic,tic,tic...tic....tic.......tic when it stopped...
  4. Suggestions Large Diamond Grade Reflective Sign Order

Are all 12 signs the same layout? If not never mind. If so, screen printing might be a better option than digital printing.
  5. Check never debited...

Many years ago, after a nasty storm, I did an insurance job for a small dry cleaners owned by a wonderful older gentleman. Mr. Hale called me a couple weeks after the final handshake and we had put pen to paper. "Have you started on my sign?" "No Mr. Hale, I haven't received the check." A few...
  6. Customer artwork

It's kinda like an amateur electrician hooking you up to 120v with only one wire. We are professionals, we know what we are doing. Do it .... or get out.
  7. Completed jobs and mistakes.

That meant you either got a "A" or a "F". Excuse me, wouldn't that be an "A", versus a "A". Oops, you get an "F". Seriously though, good post. Maybe JamesDeFelippo is a slacker who never had to fight for food before, or maybe he's working for an "entrepreneur" who bought some printers and wants...
  8. Completed jobs and mistakes.

Figure the costs of uh-ohs each week, month, quarter and raise your prices to absorb them.
  9. Discussion Boudica...................................

Being a family man, I won't post the "alternative" lyrics we kids made up to this song. Donna was a bad girl, do wah ditty
  10. Discussion Boudica...................................

I remember cutting the 45 off the back of a cereal box as kid. One, two, three ABC.
  11. Mounting Brackets For 6mm MAXMETAL

Being a school with rambunctious kids roaming around looking to tear something up, or down, I had to make sure these panels would be sturdy. Didn't want any fasteners on the front, so they are all on the backside. Panel is half inch aluminum over plywood. Bracket is 1/8" Aluminum Angle. Screws...
  12. Cost effective outdoor plates for e.g. memorial benches?

JBurton, please advise on what is "diamond drag" lettering. Thanks
  13. UPS vs. FedEx?

    Move!
  14. UPS vs. FedEx?

FedEx (Blue & Orange) are Employees of FedEx. FedEx Ground (Blue & Green) are considered self employed contractors. Fed Ex did this to bust their the union and offer a cheaper, slower, more price competitive service. There is a dedicated website just for Ground contractors to vent. I tried to...
  15. No need of typography knowledge

I'm not changing the subject, just the application. So, I got this sweet little 20" trim mower to clear out an easy route for my old tractor Cub Cadet. Keep in mind it is a "trim" mower. Anybody who has ever mowed a yard knows how to trim. Kinda like NASCAR, turn left. Common sense; grass...
  16. Installation rate vs man hours

Years ago, when lunch was less than 5 bucks, my nephew worked for me part time. I did pay him different rates for different work. 8 bucks an hour for riding around in a pickup with his uncle. 10 for just work. 12 to dig. 15 to climb. He was happy. I did charge the client accordingly. General...
  17. What was the smallest change you made in your business that had the biggest impact?

To quote Nancy Reagan, "Just say No" and to quote Phil Knight, "Just Do It". There are a lot of complicated responses on this thread, enough to confuse me. It's simple, just say no to what you don't want to do or does not make you money. Just Do what you want to do and make money doing it...
  18. Question Eradicable Awnings

Thanks for the help. I have scrap red saturated with the Mean Green for several hours at at time and it isn't pulling any red ink. I'll pickup small bottles and test the ZEP Citrus & the Soft Scrub. Remain Calm & Make Signs
  19. Question Eradicable Awnings

Any suggestions for cleaning and protecting eradicated awnings. I have been testing Mean Green on a piece of scrap red and it doesn't seem to pull any color off. The manufactures recommended cleaner is way expensive and I'm hoping for a homemade recipe.
