  1. ACM for parking signs

I need to make 10 of them for a.client, I only have 8 precut 0.061" aluminum blanks in stock, plus my workflow would be much easier if I could print then route them to shape on our summa flatbed.
  2. ACM for parking signs

What is the general consensus for using 3mm thick ACM to make 12"x18" parking signs? I usually have extra space when I'm routing sheets and I thought it would be nice to use some of the sheet up. Would 3mm ACM be strong enough?
  3. vinyl recommendation for weeding small detail

Avoid digital vinyl with air release, it doesn't stick to the backer as well and is a pain to weed.
  4. Affordable Shipping Reference for Large Panels

Use uship.com like in shipping wars, some hillbilly will strap it to the roof of his corolla and drive it across the country for a carton of Marlboro reds, the delivery address just can't be within 200 feet of a school.

  7. Pantone / Adobe copyright issues

Just think of where we would be if Pantone didn't innovate and come out with 250 different colours every year for young designers to spec for their clients new branding that can't be matched on a digital printer.
  8. Pantone / Adobe copyright issues

BMW just announced that they will start offering addons such as heated seats, remote start etc. as a monthly subscription, so every BMW made will be built fully loaded, but then certain addons will be deactivated at time of purchase depending on what you choose to "rent" from them
  9. Pantone / Adobe copyright issues

“Pantone was unable to actively update the library to correct any changes to the color data or to update it with new colors,” Cheng told CreativePro. “We had to find a way to address user problems regarding these outdated libraries.” So if I'm reading the article correctly, Adobe products were...

  12. Why would the file size be so big?

I've found most of the time if I try to open the file to add cut lines something else goes wrong, a gradient goes wonky, fonts get changed etc. I wish onyx treated cut lines like Gerber omega does, you select a line and tell it to cut that line, done, super simple, then it doesn't matter about...
  13. Why would the file size be so big?

Very true. A few weeks ago we had a client want some new signs designed, told them we would be about 2 weeks to get her proofs due to our workload, so she is having her "designer" do them, she had me send her the logos etc, so I put them all into a vector pdf and emailed them, got a reply...

Our WRI sales rep came by a few.weeks ago with a sample from 3M of a 2 mil wrap flouresent vinyl with a decent life span, I'm sure it's super expensive, but they sell by the foot
  15. Why would the file size be so big?

I dont think the issue is the file size itself, but 2 GB for a retractable banner stand should raise a few red flags about the designers common sense. As someone else posted you can design an entire tractor trailer wrap under 1gb that prints beautifully, if a designer doesn't see that file size...
  16. Why would the file size be so big?

I'm guessing they have 20+ high resolution images off to the side of their art board from previous revisions that are no longer needed, we get this somewhat often from "designers"
  17. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

Well I've never has issues with it. 8x8 should really be done as a flex face anyway.
  18. Staining of fiberglass from vinyl

Good, there are a ton of threads on here asking how to clean various car/boat paint issues, and the correct answer should always be, have the Client take it to a body shop, why would a sign shop take on the liability of someone's expensive boat or car?
  19. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

This is true of regular acrylic, but impact modified acrylic is different, it doesn't shatter or Crack, it's basically magic.
