In Roland VersaWorks you can make some Color Adjustments - though you have little real control. In VersaWorks, open Job Settings, next click on the Color Adjustment tab it gives you slide bars for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Contrast, and Brightness. You can add +5 or minus 5 to each. There is...
If your media is not set to CMYKW then your printer can't print the white. Check to see that your media includes W before bringing the job in. Then when printing, make sure you have the proper white turned on - like Spot White...
Not sure on a Vanguard, but most of these printers have some similarities. On the FluidColor we run you can pull up the job logs and the info is in there. Might check that - job logs in the software that runs the computer that prints the files...
That looks like a lamination failure. Just can't see how an ice storm lifted the edges without off gassing breaking the bond of laminate to vinyl. First thing I would ask is which laminate was used with it (gloss was mentioned, but which exact product used). Second thing I would ask is how long...
We had something similar happen on an old Graphtec - the rails needed to be cleaned as well as the wheels that ride in them (that allow the machine to move the blade left and right). Pull some covers off and look around for signs of dirt or graphite - unplug first... check the pinch rollers to...
I think the best philosophy is to treat every customer as important. Most large customers try you with a small job. They may find you because their cousin or neighbor used you to do a birthday banner. When a new customer contacts you, you can never be sure that that will not lead to a large...
We recently bought a Fluid Color R6 Series R84F Turbo Ricoh Gen 6 LED UV Cure 4’ x 8’ flatbed printer and are really pleased with it.

The Eco-Solvent Inks are good for 3 or more years without lamination and Oraguard 290 extends UV protect by 4 or more years. We use Oracal 3951RA, which is about $34 bucks more pre 54"x50yd roll - it is a 10year and only 2mil thick. You can get cheaper vinyl but in the end signs are likely to...
FWIW - their headquarters contact info. I'd tell them to give you a salesman that wants to actually sell something...

We have a Graphtec FC9000-160 and love it - just a typical Graphtec workhorse. Price was so much better than the Summa too - though Summa makes a really nice unit, so you can't much go wrong with either choice.
Agree on the heads! Price was running around 100k USD - varies according to the exact head setup you go with - we did one row of CMYK plus white, you can do two rows for even more speed. Basic frame is HandTop, which I believe same as StratoJet as well as CET and others.
New printer runs about twice the speed of our old printer comparing production quality on new to draft quality (fastest speed, for coro) on old. Runs even faster draft to draft. New machine produces higher resolution and small text, 6pt or 4pt, print excellent. Reproduces grays very well. White...
I have to agree with an above post - I don't like to use Cheap materials as in the end we have to stand behind them or lose our reputation. That said, using a good brand, find the vinyl that matches best for the application and price accordingly. If you don't get that job, don't sweat it as...
If it was a wrap vinyl, then I must ask if you post form heated it. Many wrap vinyls have grooves to release air and adhesive that is light initial tack; these often require heat to fully activate the adhesive and to allow it to permanently cling to contours (otherwise the vinyl tries to return...
From the photos, it looks like he used the wrong lamination for the vinyl. May have used a 2 year vinyl. In any event, the question here is really about how you define your business and what reputation you want for it. Personally, I would redo the horses - no charge. The customer will remember...
Graphtec FC9000 should be a fairly new machine. The 4 pinch rollers (ours is a 60") each have three settings of pressure, adjustable by pressing the lever on each at the back of the machine. If your vinyl is off-tracking, most likely not all levers are all the way down.
You can download a copy of the user manual here:

We use Orafol: 3551RA is a Rapid Air, air egress but is only 2.75mil without lamination.
3258 is a 6mil without the air egress, and 3164RA is a air egress that is 4mil.
We were torn between the Summa and the Graphtec FC9000 - went with the Graphtec and never looked back. It is fast and accurate, reliable, and price was significantly less than the Summa. We heard that Summa are a bit more temperamental. We had a Roland 30" plotter at one time. When it broke down...
