  1. Favorite "professional" graphic design idiot stories?

I worked for three different Nancys. Two out of three of them were absolutely awful. One was great! If any of you Nancys are reading this, figure out which one of you was the great one. So I worked for an on-site graphics department as a designer, for a large corporate entity. There was some...
  2. my apostrophes are wrong?

The curly-que ones are grammatical apostrophes. The straight ones are measurement marks. Perhaps the wrong one was typed in? They're two different glyphs in a font. Look in the Illustrator "Glyphs" window and you should see both types in there.
  3. How long have you been on here?

I should also update what happened with that endeavor: - With assistance from a vendor (Sign Outlet Store), chose to go with a Roland TruVis 54" whatever the model was at the time, a Vanguard UV flatbed printed, and a GFP laminator. - Learned to operate it all with training from the vendor, and...
  4. How long have you been on here?

Bygones or not, I still feel slighted that I was banned while the conversation continued while I was defenseless. But, hey, it made the members at the time feel better about themselves. Wonder where many of them are today? 'Cuz I'm still here! :D:cool:
  5. How long have you been on here?

Noooooo, less than a year later I was let go, after training my much more affordable replacement (I mean, "so I could take some vacation time and stuff!"). Terminated two months after buying a new car, and one month after getting married. Turned out to be a terribly-run company by a terrible...
  6. How long have you been on here?

Gino, maybe the word "Neanderthal" will refresh your memory.;) Boudica and anyone else: I think many of you already read through this. I won't even try to explain myself or backpedal. At this point it is what it is in Signs101 history. Certainly wasn't the first time, and it wasn't the...
  7. How long have you been on here?

Lurked for a while. Became a member on October 26th, 2016. Banned by Fred on October 26th, 2016. Re-enlisted under the new administration October of 2018, if I read the notes correctly. Laughed as often as I learned, and continue to do so. This place is all right.
  8. Need Help Has anyone ever approached their City Council to review and change a city ordinance for sign placement?

Hopefully the OP got the answer he needed -- wherever he may be.
  9. Need Help You could win 500 bucks or many other prizes.

I gotta say, this forum definitely leaves many a torn butthole in its wake.
  10. Need Help Where to source table top roll up banner stands

b2sign.com has 'em for 20 bucks (plus shipping). Graphic/banner size is 11.5" x 17.5". No idea on the quality as I've never purchased any any retractable banners from them.
  11. Have ya heard about this.................................................................?

In case you're still not sure, this is on Grimco's animated header thingy on their website:
  12. new sign with an old look

I would suggest they keep the original sign untouched and kept on display inside, and make a new version of the sign for outdoor use in the same way as all of their other updated signage.
  13. Never Forget......................................................

22 years ago, my buddy Paul and I were packing up to come back home from a weekend at the fishing cabin in the Upper Peninsula (specifically, Crystal Falls, Michigan). I was cleaning up the bathroom, last minute inspections, etc., when Paul yelled out for me to "come look at this." I went to the...
  14. What is wrong with this pdf...........................................................................

The Canva-type scourge is only going to get worse. I just received a file that was made with "Kittl". Yep, that's right: KITTL. And the free version (which is what most of these new-fangled professional designers will opt for) allows a generous export of a bitmap image, up to 800 pixels wide...
  15. best epoxy and 3D channel company in Korea

    Well, now you've done it.
  16. Flip & fold cheer signs?

You just need a Coro-Cutter (flute cutter), I believe, and only cut down one side of the flute in the middle. Or a properly-set utility knife blade and use caution. Then you can fold it. It's also how some printers ship larger signs at a lower cost, by slitting the one side of the flute and...
  17. Ink fade on clear? How to...

Shouldn't the cling still "cling" regardless of the side it's printed on?
  18. Ink fade on clear? How to...

Or just print it on white cling. Why must it be clear? WWHHHYYYYY??? Tell 'em what they really need, and don't need.
  19. Ink fade on clear? How to...

Signs365 does have clear window cling. Go to ADHESIVE / WINDOW CLING. Answer the prompts (I would guess, it will be installed on the inside, to be viewed from the outside. It will make a recommendation of CL or WH (Clear or White). -Joe
