  1. buying a CET, or?

What does being in the woods or in the city have to do with what printer you purchase?

phototec - Any chance you can give me a screen shot of what you are seeing? There must be a bug with your browser or something because there should only be one description below each design sample, have never seen anything like you describe and wanna fix that for sure.
  3. buying a CET, or?

Now that I think about it, I think the durst may not be good solution. They are belt driven, and I also remembered the thick white I saw had to be accomplished w/ 2 passes I think. I think for you it's definitely either oce/fuji or CET. If you are looking for beautiful prints, get an OCE. If...

Thanks OG. I was raised to respect my elders so I will take your advice to heart. That said I would submit it was YOU who inferred I was simply making assertions based on "speculative powers" and not any facts by implying my reasoning wasn't accurate. My facts may have been a few years off, but...
  5. buying a CET, or?

Although pricey I have seen some prints off of dursts that might fit your bill. They lay down ink quickly and pretty thick. Another printer I'd take a look at are the oce and fuji versions. We got samples off them and they print beautifully. Being a true flatbed, registration won't be an issue...

Funny you mention wikipedia. From the Adobe Illustrator page on Wikipedia: ".... The first version of Illustrator for Windows, version 2.0, was released in early 1989 and flopped. The next Windows version, version 4.0, was widely criticized as being too similar to Illustrator 1.1 instead of...
  7. Ok you Apple Sheep !

Ok OG - I will go so far as to say whenever you say or think adobe became available on PCs, or that how useful or non-useful they were, that you are right and I wrong. Amazing that you still find it necessary to argue and debate this subject with me, when the objective of my long winded post...
  8. Ok you Apple Sheep !

You are right OG, you are right....Thats what I get for not checking my facts, seems the more accepted and usable windows versions of adobe (edit to say: this will be an endless debate I'm sure, but still irrelevant to my post above) started to become available around 94-97, depending on the...
  9. Ok you Apple Sheep !

I know a while ago, when someone was considering buying a mac and posted in a thread what are the benefits or reasoning behind the purchase of one I responded (amongst other things) something to the effect of "if you do design work maybe you should get a mac." I later came to realize the...

Colorado - Make up your mind man! First you say "you understand what we're trying to do" then one post later you say "I honestly don't get what your site is portraying" Well which is it? Just joshin ya...it's all good and its nice to get a sense of everyone's reactions.

Same reason I love watching Fox News Sunday and O'Reilly.
  12. our new website

Hmm. Now That is something I think I can change. The analytics say it takes an average of 11 seconds to load the site. But, I will also say that almost every other site done by a design agency or ad agency with a similar client base as ours takes about that long to load. (They might just have a...
  13. The Movies called ... Advice, please?

Hmmm. What if you could print 8' wide though. Would you still run horiz in one piece? Only reason I ask is we have never been asked by our installers to run horizontally, but it would make setup and file prep a lot easier to not have to run a bunch of tiles if we didn't need to.

Oh jeez...here we go again. Let the bashing of mac users begin!
  15. our new website

Thanks for all the feedback. We are using our site mostly as a showcase for design work (our print business is pretty successful right now) with many of our clients used to sites that may be slightly away from the norm, or perhaps sites that may take a while to load or have slightly different...

  17. Color Correction and Matching Across Multiple Machines

We struggle with this all the time, but we are kinda nazi-ish about accurate color with certain clients. From what we've found so far, there is no easy, quick method if you want very accurate, consistent color across machines, across medias. Best thing we do is create our own profiles for every...
  18. The Movies called ... Advice, please?

I'm just curious...since we farm out most of our installs and I'm a lowly designer I have no experience with the process. For these 35' x 30" panels, you are doing them one piece, no vertical seams? Is it only because the height is so small in this case? What if the height were much bigger...

Haven't sold it yet...but are looking to once we decide on something new.
