yeah...our problem came back and another hp tech flew in and was at our shop for a few days. i have to say my opinion of this printer has lowered dramatically. We print lots of styrene with solid colors and rich blacks, as well as cardstock with similar coverage. We've been battling cure banding...

Welcome. Don't forget to absorb as much as you can from the old timers. New technology will only get ya so far, got to have a feel for the design and finesse end of things. Try and find some old sign magazines, and do as much absorbing as you can of folks who do it the old-school way...by hand!

Stay away from PDF? Interesting, our entire workflow is PDF, as is most everyone of our vendors? And your issue definitely IS affected by your rip because you need to build your files so your rip reads them appropriately. Finally, I highly doubt that your printer can only uses 1 "proprietary"...
