  1. buying a new flatbed

Vutek is pretty much out for us. Nearly every one of our competitors in town have one (I think there are like 10+ in our market) and we wanna differentiate ourselves from that. I too, have been impressed with what I've read and seen sample wise from OCE. My only concern is cure banding. I did...
  2. buying a new flatbed

We're close to deciding on a new flatbed and am wondering if any others might offer some advice or feedback. We are narrowing it down to either the Oce Arizona 550xt or Agfa Jeti 3020 titan. Our current FB700 just can't handle the demands we put on it and we need something faster. Anyone own...
  3. Ceiling Murals

Josh, I have always heard photoex isn't really meant to be a long term solution, especially on drywall. Curious how long you've had your prints up? What is your wall surface (smooth or textured) Any issues with prints lifting? I have a client who wants a wall mural in her house and my partner...
  4. Great way to start your day.

Apparently God didn't give whomever created this video the ability to use proper grammar.
  5. HP FB700 Purchase

yeah...our problem came back and another hp tech flew in and was at our shop for a few days. i have to say my opinion of this printer has lowered dramatically. We print lots of styrene with solid colors and rich blacks, as well as cardstock with similar coverage. We've been battling cure banding...
  6. new image viewer on mouse-over

    not a fan.
  7. Opinion Please

Agree with Gino, this is a ridiculous post and whatever agenda you have in posting it is most likely sketchy to say the least.
  8. Stumped, need layout suggestions

Gonna be a bit of a thread pirate here...but oh well: Addie, Why do you insist on giving people design advice anyway? Do you honestly feel qualified to give people opinions on type choices, color, logo concepts etc? I'm not trying to be a jerk, and I will say you do occasionally...
  9. Installer needed in New Orleans

We have some installation needs in New Orleans we need assistance with. It'll be pretty simple job, one installer needed for some football goal post pad decals and other smaller decals. Send me a message if interested, thanks!
  10. Up and coming young adult in the sign industry

Welcome. Don't forget to absorb as much as you can from the old timers. New technology will only get ya so far, got to have a feel for the design and finesse end of things. Try and find some old sign magazines, and do as much absorbing as you can of folks who do it the old-school way...by hand!
  11. Re-Use

    Wow.
  12. Anyone do anything like this??

We design and manufacture point of purchase displays similar to that all the time...feel free to send me any details if you'd like a quote.
  13. l25500 greasy prints

We've never had this problem on our big latex, but we finesse the curing/drying temps a lot and also run Caldera. One thing I will mention for anyone trying to print thin vinyls on latex, we invested in a separate dryer that we actually put on the outfeed side, then turn down our cure temps so...
  14. Wrap Fail

That's the best part of that crappy wrap.
  15. HP's proposed new logo.

I think that is exactly why they are exploring it. Their audience DOES know their brand. I would submit, they are not doing it for the audience they already have but rather the audience they DON'T have. That younger, hipper crowd who tend to make decisions more on image or emotions, rather than...
  16. HP's proposed new logo.

Dig it. Hope they use it.
  17. Photoshop CS5.1 not giving TIFF as a format option

No you don't. If they are all zero, how would you print a full color job + white?
  18. Awesome Building Wrap!

    Rad.
  19. Photoshop CS5.1 not giving TIFF as a format option

Stay away from PDF? Interesting, our entire workflow is PDF, as is most everyone of our vendors? And your issue definitely IS affected by your rip because you need to build your files so your rip reads them appropriately. Finally, I highly doubt that your printer can only uses 1 "proprietary"...
  20. Photoshop CS5.1 not giving TIFF as a format option

I just tried making a spot white .tif and it saved fine, though a couple weeks ago I do remember having the exact same issue you are and I figured out a workaround, like what Bobby mentions above. What RIP/printer are you using? The link below helped me tremendously, it is specifically for HP FB...
