  3. SG-300 TR2 Printing Horizontal White Lines on Cyan

I bought one of the very first Roland VG-640 machines when they were first introduced, I had only ever owned Roland printers before that and they had all been great workhorses. After 6 months we were having issues similar to yours, the tech came out about 10 times with various ideas from...
  4. Ice Rink Graphics

One word of caution, I made ice rink graphics for a client, I had about 5 yards of old mesh banner on a roll kicking around, I used it and the guy putting them in the ice was ready to kill me! Aparently the curve in the material never went away and every time he tried to stick it down, it...
  5. White Ink Waste: Does the s80600 use white to mix colors?

I'm not sure this would be worth it on a weekly basis, the changeover requires re priming the ink lines and print head, you probally use a few hundred ml just doing the swap over
  6. Glueing clear acrylic sheet perfectly clearly?

I would think a vacuum press would help a lot with this, but I would check with a local plastic place about getting a piece cut, there is a plastic place near us that will do that and it's great for this situation.

it gets used up with cleaning just like all the other colours, the machine needs the run a small amount of ink through the heads on a regular basis to keep the ink from drying in the heads and causing the heads to fail, the heads are around $2500 each, so it's in your best interest to keep them...
  9. White Ink Waste: Does the s80600 use white to mix colors?

no, but it does get used up with normal cleaning. if you don;t use it often, you can swap it out with a cleaning cartridge
  10. FastSigns and Signs365 and Gemini

Yup, as soon as someone brings out the " I found it online but I like to support local" I pretty much shut off and try to get them off the phone as quickly as possible, it never works out in my favour. We have one client who only orders about $200 a year of small stuff from us, everything else...
  11. Looking at the Epson SureColor S60600

We have the S80600 and it's great! we also came from a Roland only setup and the Epson blows every roland out of the water in speed and print quality! Ours has the red & orange ink, and while it's nice to have it's not crucial, if I had to replace it now I would get the 60600, it's a bit of a...
  12. FastSigns and Signs365 and Gemini

If someone with an etsy shop is a direct competitor to you, you need to reevaluate your business model, provide something that they can't. I couldn't tell you the last time I made a banner for this exact reason, there is no money in it and online places like vistaprint have allowed end users to...
  13. FastSigns and Signs365 and Gemini

I agree, If there are any discounts from these suppliers, it wouldn't be much. I know FS corporate talks about getting preferred pricing from suppliers like Grimco etc. but I know from speaking with sales reps at these companies that the discount is the same as everyone else gets. When you...
  14. FastSigns and Signs365 and Gemini

It most likely wasn;t a pricing issue, FS has quite a bit of overhead that most shops don't, I know corporate takes 6%-8% of the top each month, plus FS dictates that your shop must be in a high traffic retail area where rent is $$$ The local FS here is clueless, no prior experience before...

  17. How do you categorize and/or organized your samples?

I've never heard of this before. usually samples & proofs are pretty small, like 24"x24" or so, if you are printing off rolls to use as proofs and colour swatches it sounds like a waste of material, but you know your business better than I do.
  18. How do you categorize and/or organized your samples?

I'm not clear what you are asking, what kinds of samples do you do? When you say samples,.do you mean physical proofs, colour swatches etc? How long do you keep them after a job is complete?
