  1. Heat forming styrene

I'm trying to produce some snap around pipe markers, we normally order these in already done, but I want to look into what's involved in producing them in house. The appear to be flatbed printed styrene, around 0.040" thick. I assume after they are printed, they are heat formed into a coil...
  2. Question Any Ideas of which Vinyl and Lam?

I agree, I ordered some clothing labels for my kid from Mabels Labels and it's 3M Permagrip, the adhesive looks exactly like the photo you sent, grey and streaky
  3. Window perf lifting in corners... solutions?

Doesn't that look horrible from the front? I imagine you can see the white banner tape through the perf no?
  4. How to calculate cutting vinyl time and price ??

I quoted a new client years ago for a job, it sounded like a major PITA when I quoted it, so I quoted it very high. I got the job and the person I ended up dealing with was great, knew what they wanted, were open to suggestions, basically the ideal client. I ended up reducing the invoice to...
  5. Which Machine to Buy

if you are looking at printing 5000 decals a day at 2" round, that's only about 45 feet of vinyl, a roll cutter can through cut those no problem all day long. We also have a summa F1612 and it's great for most things, however through cutting decals is still hit or miss, we find the decals don't...
  6. gross thick banding lines on both(!?) printers?

Ahh yes the "Roland Tru-Vis lines" as I called them, never could get them figured out, nor could my tech, ended up getting an Epson, problem went away immediately.
  7. Tour Coach Bus

same as a standard length of string.
  8. Need Help Help milling alupanel

We run our summa F1612 at 38mm/sec @ 25,000 RPM in a single pass and get great results, this is the bit we use: https://www.betterbits.ca/M-P_bit_selector It sounds slow, but you need to remember the standard router on the summa is pretty much a glorified dremel, it can't handle the excess...
  9. For everyone thinking of purchasing a Summa, specifically F1612, don't.

It's a software add on for the flatbed cutters that increases the cutting speed by around 40%, because the F series has such a massive head carriage to move around, it can;t cut anywhere as fast as a standard roll cutter, when you enable F-performance it makes the cutter lift, turn and cut...
  10. Digital Media Translucent Referral

$330 a roll for translucent is a really good price! For backlit projects, the cost of the vinyl is a vey small expense, it's all labour!
  11. Opinion on Summa F1612 (or any F-Series)?

Damn, that sucks! We had a similar experience with our Roland printer, it took a strongly worded letter from our lawyer but they finally did the right thing, I suggest you do the same.
  12. For everyone thinking of purchasing a Summa, specifically F1612, don't.

We were advised to disable F-performance about a year ago on our 1612, it was painful to watch it run without it, so we re-enabled it and havn't had any issues (knock on wood) but we were told that summa will be replacing the board once they come out with a new one, even if the machine is out...

  14. Custom Sliding Sign or Slider Sign Cover Advice

Here you go, ready made, these are very common in the engraving industry. https://www.jpplus.com/simply-2-high-wall-holder-for-1-8-thick-material?sku=SW10218B-EA
  15. Need Help F1612 - Predicted mark position lies outside of media area error

The only time I get this issue is if I reduce the working width then forget it and try to cut something wider. If it's soft goods I'm cutting I just leave the working width at full size, the vacuum is plenty strong, if I'm routing or cutting through rigid sheets I adjust it.
  16. Vinyl that won't curl

General formulations 6 mil semi rigid vinyl, guaranteed not to curl, and thick enough to not need laminate for decals and such. It comes in permanent and removable adhesive.
  17. Dealing with cheap real estate agents

Do yourself a huge favour, dump all real estate agents as customers, you will never be cheap or fast enough for them to be happy. In 27 years in business I can count on 1 hand the number of real estate agents who were willing to pay me my regular rate for work.
  18. Looking for my first laser cutter/engraver

Hi Ben: We have had 7 or 8 Trotec machines over the past 15-20 years, they are absolute workhorses, however Trotec has saturated the market and are now trying to develop new income streams since pretty much every shop around here that wants a trotec machine has one. They have started really...
  19. auto takeup reel not working on Epson s80600

I believe the take up motor plugs into the printer somewhere, was that overlooked? Also make sure nothing is interfering with the dancer bar, I've had it hit a roll of vinyl in front of the machine and not activate. Otherwise have the tech take a look.
  20. Good non branded vinyl for PRINT LAM CUT Stickers.

I can see using 3M vinyl with their logo on the back being a positive thing, to the general public, 3M is known as a very premium product, and it shows that you use quality materials, even if Arlon, Oracal etc are all equally good, they don't have the same brand recognition to the general public.
