Where are you getting arlon 510 for $140? I see it for $179. Also, I like the black label due to to air egress which I don't think the Arlon 510 is, unless I am mistaken
I have been using the Black Label 3-mil 4 year removable calendered with air egress plus the 5-year gloss UV lamination for several months. I like the way it prints on my HP 315 and the lamination is nice and glossy and does not alter the colors much like the Briteline stuff does. Can't speak...
I hear ya! Hiring nowadays sucks. It is definitely one of those things that internet ruined. Especially for entry to mid level jobs. Nobody pounds the pavement anymore actually looking for a job. They just blast out a resume online and 99% of the time are not looking for what you are hiring.
The widest I have ever been able to achieve is 53.5". Just last week as a matter of fact. I needed the full 54" unfortunately. I swear the sales guy told me you could do edge to edge printing but I guess that only works when the media is under 54" :(
Was contacted by a Jacob at NFDC about sign work at a local AMC Theater that had some stop signs damaged by Hurricane Milton. I went out to do a site survey and met with the theater manager. I can tell that whomever out up the last batch of Stop signs in the parking lot really cheaped out and...
All Good here. I live in Port Saint Lucie and it was pretty scary hearing about all of the tornadoes around here. Lived in South Florida virtually my whole life and it was the craziest I have ever encountered. Some of the tornadoes reminded me of my brief stint living in Texas!
Read it now! And then when he says to do something, do it immediately. This book has really changed my life. Now I don't feel as if I am just "working" at a sign shop. I feel like I really own it and am building a future! It's really very simple but can absolutely change your life. Good...
I thought the same way a few years ago. Had myself and two full time helpers. Reassessed things at the end of last year. Let one guy leave and did not rehire someone else. One of the best things I ever did (besides starting to implement the "Profit First" strategy). I am already at 500K for...
I was wondering about this sort of thing too. I know Synchrony bank offers various types of financing options for a wide variety of businesses such as automotive repair shops but did not see sign shops listed in their options when I looked into it and nobody from there ever contacted me back...
Got the quote from HP and about fell on the floor. I won't air my grievances in public because I love the printer and it has given me zero problems that past 5 years. Needless to say, I will NOT be using HP to fix it. Thankfully, someone I trust gave the number of a local HP tech. He's coming...
My HP 315 is on the fritz. The cyan ink slot is having issues and I was told by HP it is most likely the PIP sensor. The kicker is, because I don't have a service contract, the minimum cost is $1800! Or if I want to sign a $3143 one year service agreement, they will "discount" that cost to...
If you know each one takes about 50 hours, your shop rate should cover that time regardless of what is being done. If other jobs are more profitable, then you know you are not charging enough for this service. Time to raise your prices with this client. In this "post Covid" economy, everyone...
Still waiting to hear back from HP with a quote to fix the issue :( In the meantime, I am dead in the water and having to outsource my printing which I haven't done in 5 years now. Called Grimco and they haven't gotten back to me either. Going to get grumpy if I don't hear anything soon.
Just had the same thing happen. According to HP customer support, it is most likely a bad switch in the sensor. They are getting me a quote on having it fixed since I am way out of warranty on mine. The CS rep did say that once a cartridge is marked defective by the printer, it will no longer...
I am usually at $6.50 per sq ft on cut vinyl (minimum). For a job like this, I would price that way and offer the client a "large order discount" of about 15%. That way if they come back with another, smaller order (if they screw up installation for example or missed some numbers), they don't...
