Omega 4.0 is good for Windows 7 64 bit OS but if he is going to get a new Omega 5.0 is the way to go.

I believe the cutter has some built in cut test (XOX) comes to mind. Dig down through the menu on the cutter. Also, try to slow the cutter down, way down to see if it makes a diff.

MacImprint creates the foil palette "on the fly" from the Gerber ColorId database it has installed. I do have a foils palette for AI and CorelDraw if you want them. Something I put together on my own. Shoot me an email and I'll send you the zip file.

Does saving or publishing to a PDF help? If you are saving to an *.AI file you may have to include some PDF or features into the file. I do not have x6 and most likely never will. or are you saving to an EPS file?

I would check out the Gerber WEB site for software requirements on the current software. 2.1 is no longer supported but as I said it will work well on Win 98.
