  1. Mixing Aftermarket and Genuine Ink Cartridges

Last Roland I had I switched to Solaris inks, first cartridges, then bulk tanks. When I made the initial switch I just popped full cartridges in as the Roland ones emptied, never flushed lines or anything, had zero issues pushing the old ink out of the lines. Totally uneventful. Your experience...
  2. Vacuum hole dust spots on fabric

Try like Cornholio says, sheet of MDF. A flatbed printer doesn't have real powerful vacuum like a CNC, so you'll want a thin sheet. If yours has enough vacuum to pull through it you should be good. You may have to cover any area around the fabric with tape/ paper/ premask/ etc if the sheet of...
  3. 36" Optically Clear Laminate

Orafol 290 used to be pretty reasonably priced in narrower rolls, comes in 36". I haven't used that in a long time, so it could be just as ridiculously expensive as everything else now.
  4. Is the lines to thin?

For small text & thin lines I wouldn't use a removable adhesive (RA) vinyl, or an air release wrap vinyl. I'd use permanent adhesive sign vinyl. The adhesive is more aggressive, it's thin, so less chance of everything snagging it, no lam needed. No long points on graphics, round them all off...
  5. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

Yeah, make em' too high and that happens. I had to smoosh it a bit to get perfect bites, flavors were balanced, meat was still the star like I always want it to be (with 75/25, all that rendered fat is pure flavor). The two things that usually take over, even in small amounts, are sauces and...
  6. Electrical Design & Layout Softwares

Here's a few to look at, a few are free... SolidWorks should say insanely high cost instead of just high cost. That QElectroTech I guess is an alternative to SkyCAD
  7. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

According to my wife, it would be the big mouth :big laugh:
  8. A sign related food subject......................................................................................

I'm such a burger addict.... Did another creation this weekend that was good enough too get added into rotation. Burger is about 1/2 pound 75/25 seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, obviously smothered with cheese. It's own custom sauce, lettuce, tomato, and topped with onion sticks, on toasted...
  9. Alcohol streaks in UV prints

Like Gino says, wipe alcohol until dry, use one rag to clean, followed with a clean dry one & wipe till it's completely dry. Just wiping down with alcohol and letting it air dry just loosens and spreads contaminates around. Even when doing first surface acrylic, you can still always throw down...
  10. Painting or Cleaning Alumacore

Try running over it with a buffer and a mild compound. Cheaper than painting/ instant results. If it's burned in too hard then paint it. You'll get tons of different methods from everyone here from latex to urethane. What you need depends on use/ environment, and how long you need it to last...
  11. flat bed printed on acrylic can you take the ink off?

How hard it comes off depends on the acrylic and ink. Usually it's not that hard to get off, just do like everyone else says, blades, lube, and be gentle so you don't scratch it up. Warning though, if you use alcohol, just keep it away from the edge of acrylic, if it was flame polished it'll...
  12. What is this font - I need an exact match

    Been there... Done that...
  13. laminator roll counter

Ready made length counters are costly, and you still have to rig it to the machine. I'd just go to a hardware store and buy a measuring wheel, take the handle off it and make a mount. That mount looks like a dime a dozen hinge with a piece of metal screwed to the wheel, just use a magnet...
  14. Stay safe Florida!

Clearing frost off the car windows this morning thinking "better this than a hurricane". Saw some massive damage on the news this morning. All the stuff can be replaced, the people are most important. For a change this one missed my daughter... The worst hit well north of her.
  15. Wrapping a 50ft tall concrete silo. Anyone ever done something similar? Pricing and time?

I wouldn't have touched it. Happy to hear it went smoother than anticipated for them, but I know I wouldn't have that kind of luck. I never do...
  16. Need some suggestions

The name is already on it, the OP wants to completely cut the boulder apart around it to just keep that part.
  17. Need some suggestions

Check with monument companies that make headstones, there are still some that cut their own down from large blanks. Granite quarries have equipment to cut some pretty large stuff, so if you have any around you, check with them too. You'll probably have to transport it to them if you find one.
  18. How to Laminate with a roll laminator

Laminating is trial and error till you get the machine dialed in. First rule of thumb when laminating is "less is better". You just want the lam to set as it passes through the rollers, period. The more pressure, the more tension on the lam or liner take-up roll, the more stretch you'll get, and...
  19. Wrapping? A Metal Box 4x8

Yup, follow Unclebun's advice. That's what the wrap films are for, and they don't need laminating. Color wrap films come in 60" wide rolls, many vendors will sell by the yard so you don't have to buy a full roll.
  20. Kiosk Information

Display company I retired from, one of the vendors we used a lot towards the end of my time there was Advanced Kiosks. Can't think of any major issues we had with them. Not cheap, but none are... Thy do indoor/ outdoor, everything from basic interactive way finding to reservation and payment kiosks.
