  1. PVC free vinyl

Alliecat, don't let all the negativity get to ya, it's a fair question you ask and I'd like to know about greener cut film material options as well. Fair warning though, you'll find that 90% of the folks in here don't share your concerns, and won't be hesitant to let you know it. It's simply...
  2. New HP-L26500 and HP-L28500 BEST PRICES!

the new 104" machines will be really enticing for a lot of smaller shops. But, you should be a little weary of the lack of adjustments on them. From what I have heard, (and can't say this is actually true, but something to look out for) you can't fine tune the heat and other settings as much as...
  3. Your Install Fonts - nice tool

Very useful and immediately bookmarked. Thanks!
  4. "domed" stickers?

Does anyone have a reliable resource for domed or "gel-like" sticker production? I've made a few calls just from internet research, but would always prefer a solid lead. Need a fairly small qty and quick turn, approx 150-300 or so.
  5. Getting our new site ready for 2012.

Looks great Joe, and a good idea to separate from your sign site as well. My only comment is I'm not a fan of sites where you need to scroll in order to see the content. Design and overall feel is stellar, great job.
  6. Fun with Vectorization

I am normally the first to criticize shoddy work, believe me...but $35? I mean, for my rate, (and I think I am pretty low, comparatively) that is like 20 minutes of work. By the time you add in actually getting the files, downloading them, correspondence, emails, billing, etc. what do you expect?
  7. First time poster prepared for the worst.

I won't go into specifics, honesty there is a lot wrong and you need to learn basics before you understand the kind of critiques you'll likely receive. I think the best path for you, (if you really want to learn this craft and have patience for it) is to design say 10 different options. I'm...
  8. Seal Image 62 plus laminator for sale

    Auction ends soon....just a bump.
  9. Page flipping in InDesign

is your preview set to high quality? are you using hires images? try making your preview draft i think it's called. it might not be a matter of the program or actual process, but rather rendering the change.
  10. HP FB700 Purchase

    Johnny - yup...exactly. Well said.
  11. HP FB700 Purchase

Just wanted to post an update. So the HP tech flew in yesterday, and spent most of yesterday and today completely recalibrating our machine. Things like belt tension, high end and multiple alignments, tracking, etc etc. After about 12 hours of work our printer seems to be functioning 100% again...
  12. virus questions

When I started feelancing I ran virus protection for the first 5 years or so I owned a mac. Haven't since then, and still don't on my home computers. Have never had a virus. All our machines are protected at the shop through a firewall though, just be safe.
  13. "Can you email me the file?"

Damn, I actually tried to help addie a while ago, sincerely did. Tried giving him advice on hiring a designer to grow his business. Then, I actually went to bat for him when we became a merchant member and he asked for some pricing on metal signs. I actually spent some time on that quote...

"LAH LAH LAH" (fingers in ears) I'm not listening....
  16. thinking about going to the apple side

OG - I am ignoring you, you obviously have an ax to grind against mac users. But, I do wanna understand this statement because I guess I am really dense. "The reason we buy macs, is to buy a computer. The reason we spend more on them, is superficial." So...um...how does that NOT lump all mac...
  17. thinking about going to the apple side

This statement above is so ridiculous I can't believe it. Ok then, so you are also saying, if you buy a $4 bottle of 2 buck chuck wine at Trader Joes, and I go and buy a $20 bottle of Wine at Whole Foods, in your twisted logic it is only because of the pretty packaging or a "status" thing? It...
  18. thinking about going to the apple side

Ok...now I'm pulled back in. I can't let that one go. Generalize much Joe? Please don't lump every single mac user into a category of buying things because they are superficial. It would be the same as a mac user saying something like "the reason people buy PCs is because they are cheap and...
  19. thinking about going to the apple side

I was involved in this thread earlier, and WHEW....It sure is more fun to watch than participate!
  20. HP FB700 Purchase

I hear ya. Many will attest that I have spoken very highly of our machine up until this point. We had occasional minor issues, but nothing a quick call to our local tech couldn't fix in a day or so. Our reseller has been great, but I am not a very big fan of dealing with HP. The machine prints...
