  1. Vinyl Lettering Pricing

I dont use oracal any more due to Noone actually stocking much of it any longer. Have you looked at TCT? They sell all their vinyl by the yard with no minimums, and $6 shipping, they also sell transfer tape. It's not oracal, but their 2 mil vinyl is quality stuff.
  2. Vinyl Lettering Pricing

How do you figure that much cut vinyl costs $1000?! Find your actual material costs, add your markup, then add your hourly rate for install. I would think this would be around $1200 or so complete.
  3. Lightbox and Pylon manufacturers

I would sub the whole pylon out to someone who does it all the time, there is a ton of engineering involved and you can easily loose your shirt if you don;t know what you are doing. Contact Media Resources in Oakville, they know their stuff. https://www.mediaresources.com/
  4. This is for anyone who screwed up lately...

I had a carney a few years ago picked up their rush signs and asked me if he could pay in ride tickets, I was feeling generous that day so i said yes, My kids thought they were in heaven that year!
  5. This is for anyone who screwed up lately...

Around here the carney folk always install their own stuff, this is pretty typical
  6. Advice

The wrinkle in the photo you posted is not from waves in the drywall, it's from improper installation technique, whoever installed this either was rushing or was inexperienced. an experienced installer could install these using the materials you used without issue. At this point walk away...
  7. Advice

That's a tough one for sure, on one hand I can see their point, the creases shouldn't be there, it's an installer error for sure, however having to remove, reprint and reinstall that much vinyl over a fairly small issue would leave a bad taste in my mouth. To answer your question, no you do not...
  8. Vinyl on stainless steel Tesla

We apply vinyl to stainless steel all the time with no issues. Stainless steel is actually what all the vinyl manufacturers use when they test the adhesion strength of their vinyls, so I don't foresee any issues.
  9. How would you deal with a low res logo file?

No North American graphic designer is getting upset because they missed out on the opportunity to trace a low resolution jpeg of Jim's Plumbing and Taxidermy for me, trust me. I could do it myself, however I don't enjoy that work, and I earn more for the company doing other tasks in that time...
  10. How would you deal with a low res logo file?

We have a few clients that we engrave awards for, there particular awards usually have multiple logos on them, they never have the vector logo, it's always the first jpeg they found online. I've told them it's $30 extra for every logo I need to redraw, they are fine with it. I just send them...
  11. Question getting wierd lines when ink was low?

I had a similar issue with our s80600 when it was about 11 months old, called epson who sent out a tech and replaced 1 of the heads under warrantee, that fixed it. If the printer is still under warrantee like it sounds it is, call epson, no point diagnosing yourself. If you need to get by, I...
  12. Need Help Printing with a Roland TrueVis and would like to cut from a Graphtec

If you are running Versaworks, it only supports Roland Cutters, however Graphtec has a plugin for Illustrator & Coreldraw to put the correct graphtec marks directly in the print file, however you would need to design your files with your multiples in your design program, so rather than design 1...
  13. Flatbed Cutters

I just got a reply from Summa support, the 1612 is not able to drill through the regmarks to allow for backside cutting, they do have a backside cutting featute where it scans the distance from the marks to the sheet edge, then you flip it over and it scans the edges of the sheet again and uses...
  14. Flatbed Cutters

I've actually never tried it, I guess I have some testing to do next week.
  15. Flatbed Cutters

We usually use a 4mm upcut single flute O bit
  16. Flatbed Cutters

Thanks for the tips! I have tried flipping the sheet over and it does give better results, however with the 1612 you can't flip a sheet longer than the 47" working area of the bed, since it has to segment the 4x8 sheet into multiple panels. I've never tried drilling out the regmarks, is that a...
  17. Flatbed Cutters

We added a Summa F1612 about a year ago, it has been a great addition to our shop, we use it for cutting out decals, trimming down prints into panels, through cutting signs on PVC, coroplast etc. Its gotten to the point where I can't imagine working without it now, it saves us a ton of labour...
  18. Question Pad/Stud Mounts on Acrylic Letters

Even pre covid, daycare centres were a giant petri dish, I can't imagine why anyone would want to go work in a daycare during a pandemic for minimum wage.
  19. Question Pad/Stud Mounts on Acrylic Letters

Yup, why someone would try to drill &tap acrylic letters is beyond me, the pads are super quick, cheap and when done properly, are as strong as the acrylic itself. You can also use the pads on ACM with a bit of 2 part anchoring epoxy, you will separate the aluminum skin from the core before you...
