  1. Need Help Mutoh 1624 Creating weird color bands

Any recent changes or maintenance done on or near the print head? Hopefully its just a software thing that some resetting can resolve. Mutoh has the manuals on their webpage now I believe and that make be covered in some of the troubleshooting section but not sure.
  2. I am stumped with this job

I agree with the others and suggest a hard pass on this one. Whoever thought it was a good idea to turn a greenhouse into a wedding venue "as is" and then hire someone to make the structure do the exact opposite of its design and purpose isn't a logical person. They are also likely not going to...
  3. What kind of signs would you propose?

Maybe some formed plastic lettering on a backer panel, along the same idea of what Gino mentioned. Keep it simple. For that size you might even be better off using a channel letter box instead of a cabinet. Cabinet is obviously a better option, but I bet a channel letter box would be really cheap.
  4. Question Oracal 3258 New Decal/Sticker vinyl

My sample was just a print and contour of the Orafol logo, not particularly impressive in the quality department but not bad either. Pretty standard quality for a newer uv. Mine is not laminated, different texture between printed area and un-printed media. It does seem like a good option for...
  5. Flexi 19 - Communication Sucks

I have always had the best luck calling in, its a pain, but usually wastes less time than emails and waiting for the useless generic replies. Direct contact seems to be best with them for an actual response. I have enjoyed the SDE so far, especially since they took off the limit on 1 vehicle...
  6. Painting Komacel and or PVC

Any info on what they recommended for you?
  7. Epson S40600 or Epson S60600

Not sure about the heads being different, but if you run that much print it should be a pretty easy choice to go with the 60600 IMO. unless between those jobs it is sitting unused for days at a time. What quality are you printing at for those production runs? Even at 720 6 pass i was impressed...
  8. Thick lines in Illustrator are wire thin in Flexi

If you transfer as an eps they should keep their stroke width. You can always change the stroke on them in flexi, or expand before saving as mentioned.
  9. Christmas time is soon for me....

Cordless hammers are such a great tool. We picked up a couple well used dewalt 36v with hepa filter at an auction for less that $50 a piece including 2 batteries and charger. They have saved a ton of time on a few jobs. If you have that many letters you will want 2 or 3 batteries ready (assuming...
  10. Removing film off ACM

We use a core as others have mentioned...
  11. Flexi 19 color problems

That is what everyone I have talked to has done. Without offering updated generic profiles I don't see how they expect people to upgrade. I haven't looked yet but I doubt any manufacturers (media or printer) have profiles available yet. We updated our design subscription to 19 but are leaving...
  12. Flexi 19 color problems

This was mentioned a by a few people in another thread, https://signs101.com/threads/anyone-update-to-19-yet.153571/ I would expect that it has something to do with the new 64 bit rip but I am not sure. I haven't heard from anyone who has discussed it with SAI, they are usually pretty good for...
  13. Anyone update to 19 yet?

At the workshop Mark had some of the not released features and they seam pretty good, he had not heard or seen anything on the sketch feature. It seams that they are repackaging some of their previous efforts in new ways. Last year they tried to re-launch signs.com and were having troubles, I...
  14. Anyone update to 19 yet?

I am going to try loading it tomorrow... I was just at a workshop this week with Mark Rugen and some if the features are pretty neat. Only 1 person in the class had updated and he had stability issues so had to roll back but I am not sure of the issues or if it was some configuration issues. He...
  15. Nifty Tips - Measurements from your desk

Quick addition to speed up the sizing in flexi... 1. draw box over sign 2. select box 3. Arrange > resize (CTRL+K) 4. Type in actual width measured from map 5. Check the "apply scale to all" box and click the check mark A few notes: This will only scale EVERYTHING in the document. Sometimes I...
  16. Any suggestions for A-frame racks for storing sheet material

We started the shelves on one of our pallet rack sections at 8-1/2 ft and built a base and vertical dividers to hold substrates vertically. It works well and is right by our panel saw. We also have a shorter section for drops.
  17. How's about this one?

Not sure I would eat at a place with a hay baler in the yard, ha ha.
  18. Epson S40600 or Epson S60600

I think you will be very happy with that setup, we run graphtec plotters and currently an older RS laminator but looking to upgrade. Just a heads up, the crate for the epson is HUGE compared to some others. We needed a forklift along with the liftgate to unload it. Its about 10' long, 4' wide...
  19. Epson S60600 Ink Durability

I have not noticed any less durability with our epson compared to other eco-solvent inks. I just ran a thousand decals for a customer who gives them away and left them unlaminated. After cutting them apart with a Metoschnitt I did not notice any scratches or damage. Ink adhesion and durability...
  20. Epson S40600 or Epson S60600

They get heavy, over 100 lbs for the big rolls
