  1. Wayfinding Signage Abbreviations

What signbrad said. Industry standard is to assign a sign type / designation for each sign type. The designation will often refer to the sign type, floor, location (N, S, E, W) on the floor, etc.
  2. Lenticular display with fins

I wouldn't sweat the specifics too much. The graphic basically just continues across each piece as if it were flat They never really read too smoothly. Installation is straightforward. I've installed quite a few and essentially all have been done with a single z-clip in the centers. You can...
  3. install small dedication plate to concrete

All of the photos are bare concrete. They're not sealed, painted, etc. And my apologies, one clarification that I meant to include: Typical VHB tape (acrylic foam) does NOT work especially well on bare concrete. The tape that works best and was used in most of the examples I posted has the...
  4. install small dedication plate to concrete

Exterior install. Bare concrete. Installed three years ago with about 100 others. Some inside, some outside, all exposed to the elements. Tape and silicone. Still up. Exterior install. Bare concrete. Installed in January 2017, so it's been up for 6 years. Tape and silicone. Still up...
  5. install small dedication plate to concrete

The tape will easily hold it in place until the silicone sets up. Once the silicone cures, you'll need a prybar to get it off. I've installed a ton of stuff on exterior bare concrete with that method and have never had a failure.
  6. install small dedication plate to concrete

Tape and silicone will be fine. No need for a mask or scoring the sign.
  7. Cut acrylic for standoffs?

I've done multiple sets like these. They're acrylic letters with smaller acrylic pieces cut for the 'spacers'. Easy enough to do. Tape-mount just like any other set of letters. The green and yellow pieces in your pic appear to be back sprayed. Not sure what your question is other than if it's...
  8. Suggestions Question for those in the Florida Sun

If they want it to last that long, maybe just use painted polycarbonate and tape-mount it?
  9. What is this?

    Was it dropped?
  10. Core sawing

There are obviously other factors, but the general rule of thumb for proper support is the hole diameter should be 3 times the pole/post/tube diameter (2" tube = 6" diameter hole) and the length of tube below ground should be equal to 1/3 of the length above ground. That being said, if you're...
  11. Knowledgeable, Experienced and Professional Sign Veteran Seeking Remote Work

Ok, there's a line and you crossed it, mister. Old Gran-Dad may be bottom shelf but it's excellent for the price and favorably regarded among those in the know. OGD Bonded and 114 even more so. Now go sit in the corner and you think long and hard about what you've said. When you come...
  12. Attaching small acrylic letters to interior wall

I've installed lots of letters with the Orafol tape. It's good stuff.
  13. Attaching small acrylic letters to interior wall

You don't need it but it's not going to hurt, so you might as well. Just make sure they're small enough so they don't ooze out.
  14. Attaching small acrylic letters to interior wall

The tape is more than sufficient. The acrylic isn't too heavy. No silicone needed. These tapes are generally rated for around 20 pounds per square inch of sheer weight. Just press really hard to form a good bond. They'll be fine. No masking tape needed. Press and go.
  15. Suggestions re-installing stud mounted acrylic lettering

Glad it worked out. The awl is the best thing to use for that. I shouldn't have said "rubbings" in my other post. Kind of a default, blanket term. For future reference, when you DO do rubbings, use a red construction/lumber crayon. They're fast due to their size and you won't get lead all...
  16. Suggestions re-installing stud mounted acrylic lettering

Yeah, if you need a pattern then create one off the existing holes. An awl actually works better. A rubbing doesn't always pick up all of the holes. Tape your pattern paper over the holes and punch through the paper into each hole with the awl. I'll usually put the outermost letters back and...
  17. Kids learn so fast

Had a 4 year old and her grandparents over this weekend. Took a pic of the 4 year old putting a puzzle together. She wanted to see the picture so I handed her my phone. In less than 10 seconds, she had zoomed in, scrolled around, added it to my Favorites (I have nothing in my Favorites) and...
  18. Suggestions re-installing stud mounted acrylic lettering

It's the best way. I've used piano wire, guitar string, kevlar string, etc. The three putty knives are what I've settled on. For any situation, one of them will work. Hopefully you got a rubbing of the existing holes after you removed the letters to use as a pattern. If being reinstalled, once...

  20. Suggestions re-installing stud mounted acrylic lettering

I remove a crap ton of letters. I only use putty knives. I've tried a bunch of other methods and putty knives work the best.
