  1. Starting a new business

Are you going to employ your friend, or is he just going to "help out"...because if he isn't getting paid, and isn't working in your shop, I think you both will become frustrated very quickly. He isn't going to want to help make you money for free, and you aren't going to want to wait on him to...
  2. Starting a new business

Good luck! Best advice I can offer is doing some searches on the site for what you are looking for. You loaded a lot of questions in there. All I know is, I bought stuff new. It cost more, higher payments, and I didn't like making them, but I never had any issues with anything breaking down.

    See my last post.
  4. Fathead

We do PhotoTex all the time. Use the profile for Oracal 3640 in Uni-Directional mode. If you cut it, cut as slow as you possibly can.
  5. wrapping over a wrap... any specific concerns I should be aware of?

Ya do what ya gotta do. Doug knew the RIGHT way to do it, but due to our customers coming in and wanting last minute jobs that they didn't prepare for, you sometimes have to play the cards you are delt. If the customer is happy, you got paid well, and got the job done...I'd say you did good...
  6. Why discuss price AFTER the signs are paid for?

I've had the same. They say that they can get a way better deal somewhere else. That place doesn't have any reputation at all, they are the low baller, and no one in town likes how they deal with customers, however, they continue to go there because they are the cheapest. I am now ok with...
  7. My new baby.

They're all cute till they spit up and crap all over you.
  8. Why do I get all the dummies as customers..

We have no issues with any of that, so maybe I'm just special. :corndog:
  9. Getting into screen printing coro signs

I don't know why you asked what we thought, cause every single person that has delt with this decision gave you the same advice, but since it's not what you wanted to hear, you are just ignoring it.
  10. Customers over my shoulder, how can i stop this ?

I used to hang garage doors, and people have absolutly nothing to do in their life but sit there and watch you work while they collect money from the government. We referred to these people as "Lawn Chair Customers" because they would always grab a lawn chair from the garage, sit there, and...
  11. Getting into screen printing coro signs

Sub it to Keith. It's cut throat pricing, and only the ones set up for volume are keeping their heads above water from what I can tell.
  12. Why do I get all the dummies as customers..

I never write "LOL" because I am never really Laugh Out Loud...but on that...ROTFLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Corn Dogs, love em or hate em?

It's still workin' good too, cause I'm wanting corn dogs for lunch instead of mexican food.
  14. Why do I get all the dummies as customers..

We've got them too...but we don't have public restrooms. I let one guy use it, and he tracked oil all the way through the shop on our new carpet. Anyone else, I've just told them no.
  15. Gemini Letters on Steel Siding

I had never thought about using a track. That would be really quick and easy, but in this case, I have to bid "apples to apples" so I'm just going to drill. I have delt with way worse, and I'd love to get into doing more of these, I just haven't ever had time or the experience to do them...
  16. Gemini Letters on Steel Siding

My only concern I guess is having to drill right on the edge of a rib for some reason. I'm sure I will come across that. I am a perfectionist, and I don't want a single letter to be even a little crooked. I am going to have them put some OSB behind it if I can talk them into it, so then I at...
  17. Gemini Letters on Steel Siding

I don't know any of that...that's what's making me nuts...plus the guy said he needs the quote by tomorrow, so I can't even research it. I may pass on the job, but I like Mosh's idea of the combo...that may do the trick. I know silicone will hold it on, but I wasn't sure how to do it on the...
  18. Gemini Letters on Steel Siding

That's what the construction company is asking me. If they need to put something in there, they will, but they don't know where. It will be insulated, so I'm not sure how thick of a wall it will be. On a pole barn, I'd say there will be at LEAST 6" - 8" behind it. It will have perlins behind...
  19. Gemini Letters on Steel Siding

Do I need to have wood or something to mount these to installed behind the siding. I don't get into these too much, I normally just order them, and the customer puts them up, but I had a fire dept. come in, and they want me to quote installing them on their new building. I like the process...
  20. American Pickers

Hey Dan, for not liking the show...I'm impressed you remembered the guy's name!
