  1. Go big or stay home?

So many variables, financial, emotional and others. When I started in this business it was with the idea of having a shop in the garage, a pick up and my dog...things went in another direction and there's no way to go back there now but it definitely is an appealing idea.

  3. PVC Cut Letters - Non Stock Colors

I was going to say flatbed print and then rout as has been mentioned. We just spray them, but I hate painting pvc, prefer to use acrylic if it's in the budget.
  4. What Equipment is needed to bend aluminum edge?

To do that type of work you'll need a sheet metal brake, and a shear would be nice too. They can be found used, but don't come cheap. The notches can be done with a hand punch or floor press. It also helps to have a finger brake. We have gotten by with an 8' brake and 4' shear, cutting larger...
  5. Rubber trailer tarps and vinyl

I did a few years ago and they stuck OK, but no way would I give any gauranty, especially not 5 years, I wouldn't warranty vinyl on a box truck for 5 years. 12. Reverse install window perf

I have a client who wants to have some large store windows covered with window perf. They had some printed window perf on the outside but it got picked at too much so it is coming off. 17. Discussion Decision: CNC Router or small digital printer?

CNC, there are lots of people with printers and you can buy from wholesale places really cheap. But CNCs aren't as common, would be a lot more fun, and dimensional signs are a smaller and more profitable market.
  18. Reclaimed Wood & Dimensional letters

We've done a few small ones. We used a stable substrate like ACM or MDO, glueing and screwing the old lumber to it. Sometimes adding old rusty bolts for effect thru the face. As far as fire proofing I do remember using some clear fire retardant "paint" back when I did theater scenery, probably...
  19. Substrate Question for Sign

I hate getting calls on jobs like this because it's a waste of my time unless the owner is willing to bring the frame up to "code".
