  1. How much do you keep in stock?

I don't keep extra "rolls" around of anything. When I get low, I just order the next roll. I don't know of ever ordering anything that was common and not having it the next day. I let my vendors stock it so I don't have to, and just order when it's needed. Then again, I'm in a small town...
  2. Flash Memory to DVD Converter?

Has anyone bought, or even seen any kind of a DVD burner that will take video files off of a memory card, and just burn them to a DVD without having to load them to your computer, and all that jazz. Looking for something that's just a stand alone unit that will do this. I'm sure it exists, but...
  3. Say it ain't so, Shamu!

If it's called a "killer whale" and you get in the tank with it...you may be asking for it. That being said...I think it sucks either way. No one wants to see that happen, and no whale wants to be in captivity. However, they do a lot of research and have learned a lot from the programs there...
  4. Dogs can be expensive!!

Thought I was going to be putting our cat of 5 years down yesterday. You don't realize how much they become part of your family until you have to make that decision. He couldn't keep food down, and I wasn't willing to do "exploratory surgery" and deal w/ the aftercare until he was better...
  5. HD Video Camera Recommendations

I bought a HD Kodak camera. I think it's an easy share, but just the digital video kind. Takes amazing outdoor video, and not bad indoor. It doesn't have image stabilization though. So if you aren't using a tripod, you need to be pretty steady. It captures to a SD card, and it has a built...
  6. Where do you get the Digital LED Signs?

We've seen a few billboards around here that are LED's that you can change the program on them, just like you would on your computer monitor. We're MILDLY looking into at least getting pricing since we sit on a major road and it would provide lots of advertising, and possibly advertising sales...
  7. concrete floors and the effect they have

Cardboard really does do the trick. We did a job in the winter in this shop, and had a ton of cardboard from unpacking products. Some of us were on cardboard, and some of us were just on concrete. Everyone on concrete had cold feet, literally. It's only a temporary fix...but it works great.
  8. Magnetic Signs

    $90/pair retail price.
  9. Problems with decals on vehicle windows

I had the same problem on a fire chef's SUV about two years ago. Cleaned the window good, put it on dry, and the first snowfall we had, you could move them around like magnets on a fridge. I didn't know what else to suspect other than Rain-X, but that's really random on the side windows. So I...
  10. Good thing there are warranties

So what's the story on this JetBest guy? Was he a spammer? Cause I got hit with like...4 PM's from him telling me he'd get me the info I requested, when I never did...then told me that I needed to switch to his inks, again never saying the first word to this guy.
  11. Best vinyl/lam for a FULL vehicle color change?

I was thinkin' the same thing.
  12. Projects make them stop!

The trick to that is "don't clean the bathroom weekly"! Wait till you have to put boots on.
  13. Projects make them stop!

I have an unhealthy obsession with motor sports in the sand. I go to Silver Lake Sand Dunes several times a year, and when it's closed in the off season, I start going crazy. Got the first one booked for opening weekend in April. ONLY 36 DAYS!
  14. dsl or cable?

DSL makes me want to hang myself. Cable is worth whatever it costs to get it. As far as email...I don't really have a webpage, but I bought a domain name so that when I'd switch providers, I would still have the same email address. You may want to look into something like that.
  15. Some recent design work...

    You are the king.
  16. Who is responsible for pulling a sign permit

Our town isn't too bad on permits, you just have to file them, they don't normally make you make changes, or question anything. We just charge $35 for the time to file the paper and the $10 fee they charge us. However, that's itemized on all quotes, so it's the customers choice.
  17. How Do I Explain Files To Customers

The Professor said it one time that said it how I like to explain it now: I have two ways I expain based on what they've given me. 1. an EPS with a bitnmapped image: I generally explain that bitmapped images are made of very small squares and when you enlarge the image you just get larger...
  18. Who is running their Mimaki 24/7?

That's too bad. My customers have had me print stuff for them all the time, and all I do is sub it out, and collect a lot of money.
  19. Time to renew our yellow-pages ad

I dropped it other than just a line listing. We have Vonage and have to pay for whatever we put in there to get a listing, but it's like $15/mo whatever I have now just to be in there. I don't think it did me any good, but we're in a small town, and have been around 30 years...just depends...
  20. Wholesale printing, charging for waste?

You charge for every inch of vinyl that goes through your printer/cutter. I had a customer complain to me that I charged him for unprinted area the same as the printed, and he couldn't BELIEVE that I'd charge the same for an area w/ less ink on it. I told him it's all the same cost regardless...
