  1. Vinyl mounting speed contest anyone?

Here's a thought Dale, Solicit your signs101 fans to contribute impressive speed demonstration videos to be supplied with good lighting, (& no cussing ) for the dual purpose of: showing off to our signs101 buddies, who may then be compelled by the early entries to "compete"...
  2. Vinyl mounting speed contest anyone?

christ what a crybaby... are you offended that easy? you ask a stupid question, and then when you hadn't succedded in derailing the entire conversation to your arrogent nit-picky self important little issue... you ask it again.... ...now that the huge misunderstanding  is finally...
  3. Wireframe line width too thin

sounds like another of many uses for a screen capture program. Sure, it still sucks when expensive "upgrades" foul up what was working fine the old way... but if you can get a good looking screen display with little to no effirt... maybe a good workaround now would be a quick couple mouse clicks...
  4. Is this a good buy?

Mike, as I've said on large format printer discussions many times... I honestly believe you should shop for a trustworthy supplier... not a printer. Honestly, all the main well known name brand printers do an awesome job & will add incredible quality products that any successful sign shop will...
  5. Sticky Situation

BINGO! actually, I was going to say shop for a different media, but even another reverse wound media might be better. I use Optisolv banner media from Advantage sign supply. It is reverse wound, & is a little sticky, which I don't like either... but it works better then your situation.
  6. Everything but cyan gone?

I upgraded to a better CPU to use as my dedicated rip station. My excellent tech support that always makes me happy to have them on my team comes from Advantage Sign Supply... but the color issues I was having, (trying to get consistent results printing old job files, on the same media with the...
  7. Buying & Selling Software at Signs 101

hmmm digital art that comes with "upgrades"... ...sounds like one of those Vehicle Outlines companies maybe... though I don't recall any up for sale here recently
  8. Attention all Suppliers or anyone who wants to sell a plotter!!!

I think Fred make some excellent points regarding tractor feed systems that shouldn't be overlooked with all due respect... flame... I've seen you do a lot of talking on here over the years, & not always "get anywhere", so I wouldn't presume that just because you already talked to them that...
  9. From Corel 9 to Corel 12

I do that a lot in illustrator too... but after I copy, I have to open a new window and paste right away.... because the first "undo" that I ask for will undo the "copy" command.
  10. Cool gizmo of the day

don't feel too bad... it was probably mis-priced at $120. Even today Staples.com shows it as $169, and these things have been coming down in price since last spring. I have two 300 gig Network attached storage (NAS) devices that I got last year. This quarter, I just exceeded the capicity of...
  11. Leasing?

That's what I did, 10 years ago, I started subbing out all my printing work (edge printing at that time) and I built up my demand, & my reputation in my market, as a digital printing provider, as well as making the adjustment in my design style, to take advantage of print graphic capabilities...
  12. Leasing?

Weasel is right about the benefits of experience. Even business experience could be helpful, but I think a lot of sign employees turned to signshop owners without any business experience, and still did ok, if we learned that the business side is as well worth an intentional effort at...
  13. Hello people

    welcome from paradise
  14. $5000 startup

I think your budget and your ambitions are good information to share along with this important question, but the most important information in my opinion is what skill level are you at? Have you put years in as an employee in this industry, or are you coming from a semi-related industry (graphic...
  15. ANOTHER Juice Drops deal $9.99 Heads up

actually, now that you explain it, that does sound kinda convenient Bogie... with all different clipart collections on there. I tried out Extensis to see if that would be worth the effort... I got lazy and never really gave it a chance. What thumbnail viewer do you use?
  16. Suggestions for DOT lettering font in short space

well, that'll teach you to think again, before thinking Bogie
  17. ANOTHER Juice Drops deal $9.99 Heads up

shelf space is cheaper. I honestly can't see any advantage to storing them on a drive, except to illegally sell the discs afterwords. The disc sleeves have an image catalogue, so by the time you find an image thumbnail you want to use... the disc is in your hand already... but... to...
  18. ANOTHER Juice Drops deal $9.99 Heads up

I wouldn't clutter up a hard drive with them Corel will be able to access them, but I'm not sure about editability within the layers. The fact that they are all built in up to a dozen layers, makes them so much more versatile & valuable. I'm not saying Corel's photopaint (or whatever it's...
  19. ANOTHER Juice Drops deal $9.99 Heads up

there was only 2 that I didn't have & the cheapest freight they offered me online was $28 for a $19 purchase. I just don't want them that bad, when I know they would both fit in a USPS flat-rate envelope & ship for under $5.
  20. Print onto Chocolate??

I made a silk screen for one of the large hotels to screen print their logo onto plates using chocolate instead of ink
