  1. ...for all you Photoshop experts!

whatever you are saying... I don't think you used enough words for anyone who doesn't already get it, to have learned it from your post. Maybe I'm wrong, & I'm the only dense one here... but I think I only halfway under stand this & I still don't fully trust my comprehension. This probably...
  2. anyone buy a printer from matt c?

those of you who might have got roped into some kind of funky deal... you might see more into this because you have a lot more info to go on. As an innocent bystander, what little I can piece together, with a lot less at stake to justify much effort in piecing it together... I get the...
  3. anyone buy a printer from matt c?

My thoughts exactly! Besides being a refreshing opportunity to see someone show a little class, it is also a reminder that I can learn a little from the integrity & sympathy shown by one of the victims of this situation.
  4. New to Business (I mean actual business)

GraphiXtreme is right on the money. I switched to an LLC filing as an S-corp 1-1/2 years ago. Last year I made $100K, but I only took a salary of $40K, so all my self employment taxes applied to the $40K salary, not the $60K in stockholder distributions. Unless you reinvest it in the...
  5. new setup ?s for changing flexi/mimaki CPU

My computer guy told me "Firewire" is what should be showing up, & asked if my device had a disc... sure enough, I had a Mimaki 1394 device driver disc... but after installing it, "firewire" still doesn't show up in Flexi setup's port choices? I've restarted several times too
  6. new setup ?s for changing flexi/mimaki CPU

right now, my main question is this: in the set-up menu, in Flexi's production manager, after I have selected my printer (Mimaki JV3-160SP) I need to specify the communications port. I am using a firewire port. The choices are USB001, COM1 (2 and 3) LTP! (2 and 3) and LPR, FTP, TCP/IP...
  7. photoshop scaling

another handy trick I now use 3 or 4 times a day in 3 or 4 different programs... I got an excellent freeware screen capture program that does that even faster, plus I can program it to never exceed 600 pixels wide (or any other parameters) for emailing. Overall many less clicks, & NO chance...
  8. Laminator??

1 or 2 days ago, someone here had a 30" one, hardly used... 25% below cost. check out the classified forum.
  9. ading a cut path to image in illustrator??

cutters cut vectors, live trace produces vectors, not all vectors weed into signs!
  10. ading a cut path to image in illustrator??

yep also, if you don't have it & aren't ready to step up to CS2, Adobe made a program called Streamline that will also vectorize image files. Some rastor image editing prior to streamlining is sometimes helpful, but that's true with live trace as well. Streamline was only around $150 &...
  11. ading a cut path to image in illustrator??

hand draw it in CS1 or lower... or use live trace in CS2 or higher
  12. hi from albuquerque

nope, moved back to Maui in '95... (i is for island ) ...is that corner house on Cornell street, one block from campus, still the graffitti covered party-central, punk haven it once was when I lived there?
  13. hi from albuquerque

draw a 6 x 24 box, draw a 5.5 x 23.5 box, draw a 5 x 23 box, center them all, add the street name in the center of that & cut. Weed out between the letters and the inner box, & between the outer 2 boxes. You will have a 1/4" border that will fit 1/4" inside of the aluminum blank. (I worked at...
  14. Crashed... What should I do ?

I almost forgot, because I did finally go to Flexi 3 years ago... but, for the record, after suffering with the daily glitches of CrashMate for years... once I set up the dedicated system... Casmate ran smoother then ever with weeks between crashes, instead of hours.
  15. Crashed... What should I do ?

I had a dual boot to run casmate once. I hated it. I'm used to leaving quickbooks, illustrator & photoshop open all day, as well as outlook & an ftp program sometimes... to shut all that crap down to cut some letters really sucked... and then while the cutter is running, I have to go do...
  16. Actually it is Twenty Two Dogs

Hi Greg, If you want good decals just for yourself, would die for a versacam, but can't justify the expense... then I would invest in 3 other things instead... 1.) ramp up your computing power if at all under powered for graphics work. 2.) Get, or add to your existing, top notch industry...
  17. New guy in Austin

aloha! I just visited my daughter in Austin last fall for an awesome October day wake surfing on the lake!
  18. MAC or Windows ?

hate to pop anyones bubbles... but my pc's are nice and stable too... seems some tend to think we all live in fear of the blue screen or get attacked by a virus every flu season... I've never had a virus running 5 pc's for 10 years... & don't crash enough to lose any sleep (or money) over...
  19. MAC or Windows ?

buy what people already know how to use, & what the programs you already own will run on.
  20. how to change anchor pointd size...illustrator

I'm not sure I understand the question, but when choosing the scale tool, the first left click sets the anchor point, then you can visually drag (maintaining proportions with the shift key) the object(s) to whatever new size looks good... OR, holding the alt key (or option ? on Mac) when you...
