Seriously what I do is Oracal 651. I know it is a 6 year film but it has a more aggresive adhesive and sticks to stuff like this. We have to use in on the front of reefer semi trailers, the reif door are textured plastic and this stuff sticks pretty good.

Gerber mask is what I use. On diamond plate it will be a "pita". How bout a pounce pattern and paint it that way....if you even know what that is.

Hire a shop that does this kind of work. You are only asking for trouble! Not a bad thing to hire stuff out or pass instead of having a nightmare come true doing something you are not capable of doing.
