  1. Fuel surcharge???

It's a money grab plain and simple. These fuel surcharges popped up when gas started to hit $3.50 - $4.00+ which kind of made sense except that when gas prices went down, the fees didn't. It's a billing tactic to make sure you know that they aren't the reason for the fee, the gas prices are. If...
  2. Transparency Issue

The Preview in most RIPs is not an accurate rendition of the job but merely a place holder so you can setup the layout and copies etc. This saves the computer a ton of resources and loads the job into Versaworks faster. How does the job actually print?
  3. SP540V Stair Stepping, Poor Color

This has to have something to do with the encoder. Did you change the sensor as well? I have put brand new encoders in before and had this problem. It is usually either a bad sensor and/or a small amount of grease from the rail splattered onto the encoder during or even after install. Run the...
  4. RJ900 problem. Need some help/thoughts please!

The fuse that protects the head on the main board is blown no doubt about it. Depending on when your RJ-900 was manufactured, it may have a socketed fuse that you can just pop a new one into but it could also need to be soldered on if it is older. 750mA 125v quick blow nano fuse is what you need.
  5. new mutoh 1624x banding

I don't think it will be very cost effective for him to fly someone out to Guam lol! But I volunteer. I'll fix your machine for free if you pay for the flight and hotel!
  6. need help flexi 10.5.1

Have you tried running the software as an administrator and in compatibility mode? That should do the trick. Normally when a new OS doesn't work with my old software, setting the compatibility mode to Windows Xp Service pack 3 works.
  7. 1 Mil Printable Vinyl Suggestions?

It should be better for perf cut in theory but I don't have any experience with it other than playing around a little bit.
  8. VG540 Cutting problems. The printer heads are not staying in the capping area

I'm not sure how the new models are handling this but most other Roland printers would fix this by running the limit position initialization in the service menu.
  9. 1 Mil Printable Vinyl Suggestions?

You just need to get a 60 degree blade to cut the laminated material with. That will solve your problem with the weeding.
  10. new mutoh 1624x banding

Let's see some pictures. Do you know if the tech did the PF adjustments? I know it sounds obvious but there are a lot of 'techs" out there who aren't as experienced as they say they are. The PF adjustment is done by printing out two lines 500mm apart and then taking the vinyl off the printer...
  11. Not looking for "something for nothing"

4.4 oz is 128 grams which is extremely high for regular calendared vinyl. Exposing more blade will only make it worse. You need to lookup your user manual to see how they say to install the blade. Proper blade installation is key to getting good cuts. With a new blade you should be around 30 -...
  12. E074Err CR2 WT_????? Mutoh help please

Your encoder should be shinny and clear with a slight dark tint to it. If it is looking dull, cloudy, milky, and/or not very shiny, you need to replace it. If it is perfectly clean but has scratches and or other damage, it needs to be replaced. Even a small smudge of clear grease can cause this...
  13. Roland SP-300 encoder strip

You can just rig it to fit but be careful, if you mess it up, I guarantee the dealer won't take it back. I would ask for a replacement to be safe especially since you purchased an OEM encoder. You can get generic encoder material and make your own for cheap so paying full price for an OEM one...
  14. Question Cast all the time?

Arlon DPF-4600LX is a calendared vinyl and is made specifically for car graphics that aren't full wraps. It won't work on rivets or recesses/sharp curves but it works great on everything else. You can always laminate with cast laminate to give it a little more dimensional stability and longevity.
  15. Not sure what would cause this...

Looks like ink dropout to me. Usually the culprit is the dampers but it could also be a few other things. If you haven't changed the cap tops and dampers in over a year, it's time to do it now. While you're in there, test the pumps to make sure they aren't clogged/constricted.
  16. Need Help Changing/Repairing VJ-1638WX Mainboard

I would try to talk to someone higher up at Mutoh. If everything you are saying is true, even if the tech failed to find the problem the first time, the way the machine failed is a manufacturing defect and is covered under the warranty. The fact that the board caught on fire means there is...
  17. Vj 1204 Service Manual

What exactly did you do? How wide will it print?
  18. I really need a tip or trick about now to get rid of this issue? Before i go crazy :)

That looks like ink drop out to me and possible a damaged encoder disc. Load some media and let the machine measure it. Now push and hold the down arrow key to move the media forward. Listen carefully. Do you hear a thumping noise every once in a while? If yes, your encoder disc needs to be...
  19. Need Help Light cyan shadows?

I'm pretty sure in Versaworks you can just choose CMYK as an option in the quality settings.
  20. Graphtec FC8000 cutting strip

Your cutting strip should be good for a year at least and I have seen some last the entire life of the machine! If you are changing it more often, you need to adjust the blade pressure better.
