This is a common issue with the 1604 model unfortunately. I have one customer who puts the pinch roller lever down all the way and then backs it off a little which seems to help. Other than that:
If the pinch rollers are damaged/worn unevenly, which happens more often than not, that can cause...
The terminals on the slider board line up with the heads they go to. The top terminal on the slider board goes to the left terminal on the head and the bottom one goes to the right.
A lot of times when production manager freezes when you go to print is because the port settings were messed up and it can't find the connection. Check the port settings and make sure the IP addresses didn't get reset to defaults.
As everyone else has said, definitely do your research. Dye sub is a huge industry and many people do it successfully and many fail. My recommendation would be to look at the Mutoh RJ-900X which many people have used for Dye Sub a while now, the Mutoh VJ-1624WX is also a good option but it is...
Did you recently purchase after market wipers? The Roland machines have a wiper scraper that the wipers have to slide by. Most after market wipers I have seen are too stiff and get caught on the wiper scraper and cause the motor to spin out. The OEM wipers are softer and slide by without issue.
What kind of noise are you getting? If it is a screeching noise while the motor moves the print head, it is most likely a bad pulley, improper belt tension and or a dirty, non-oiled Y rail. If it is a groaning/humming sound while the motor is idle, you can adjust the idle voltage in the service...
Always run a nozzle check and see if there are any defects when troubleshooting. In this case, I am willing to bet that your nozzle test looks good though. You probably have an electrical issue going on here and it's most likely the head. Usually in these cases I start with replacing the head...
Never buy a printer, inks, or parts from Indonesia! I have heard from at least 10 people directly and much more on signs101 who ordered a printer, parts, and/or ink from Indonesia for such a great price! Only to be scammed. If you find a product for less then a 3rd of the cost of what other...
Have you tried bringing in a file directly into Rasterlink rather than the hot folder? Does it work? Are you sending the files to the hot folder using Illustrator or Coreldraw? Or do you do it manually?
Is it possible the error message was 36 instead of 76? Error 76 does not show up in the tech manual and 36 is the mark detect error so I assume that is what is going on. Go into cut mode and load some media. Once it is loaded, the laser should turn on automatically. If it doesn't, hit the end...
Although the print heads in the toucan are different than the Vj1304, GAC05 is correct. You could also just let the pumps prime the system since you replaced everything and it's all empty. That would be my suggestion. When you let the pump do all the work, it gives you a better idea of what is...
You're just too use to the smell that you can't smell it any more lol! But seriously, I have many customers who run 1 machine in a small area or multiple machines in one room and fumes are definitely a problem. Especially when you take into account employee safety and well being etc. These fumes...
We stay open most of the season just in case someone's machine goes down during an important holiday sign job. A lot of days end up being half days and very lazy "work" days though.
When I was making signs my general rule used to be, never advertise your business on someone useless sign unless you gave it to them for free or highly discounted. When I buy a car, I hate it when the dealer puts their sticker on my car.
Any modern printer is going to print very high quality prints these days so that is usually not an issue. You want to look at reliability of the printer and the ability of your dealer to fix the printer in a reasonable time. If you can find a dealer with a full time tech on staff, that is the...
If you have the disc, you can install it and then upgrade from there. Here is a link to the SP-300V download section (The model doesn't matter here). Select, "Software Updates" from the drop down menu and it will show you the download links. You will have to upgrade to version 3.02 first and...
Start it at $6000 and you will probably get close to $5000 out of it. They are great used machines and if it's in perfect condition, it's worth the money. We sell used SP-300s all the time. The older ones that aren't in the best shape usually go for $4500 - $5000 after we refurbish them.
