  1. Suggestions Possible Scam or am I losing it?

The only part that seems out of place for a scam is the current client referring them, I would call them
  2. Need Help 3M 680 Reflective Bubbling

If it's the paint they should return the car because it's defective.
  3. Need Help Cold weather vinyl

You don't say what kind of project, but a good cast vinyl (and laminate if needed) should be fine. Installing in the cold is a problem no matter what you use. It's best to let it warm up a bit, or warm it before applying.
  4. Free estimates...friend or foe?

I don't charge for them. Most estimates aren't that involved, if I get an complicated one I make a judgement call on whether I want to take a shot at it. The ones I usually pass on are for a contractor (who isn't a repeat customer) who is bidding a large project and there on signs involved...
  5. 1099s All over the place

Just to cover their butt. Easier to send them to everyone than figure who should really get them.
  6. Need help pricing

One problem for anyone new is you may take twice as long to do a job as an experienced person. So if you use an hourly rate that is comparable to other shops you may never get a job. You may have to accept making less, maybe significantly less, on a job till you've learned the ropes.
  7. Regular vinyl on reflective for signs?

"How would the client know which way is the best?" Because you said "Highway Signs" which to most of us means the signs are for a government entity and have very clear specs.
  8. Question on sandblasting HDU foam

Yep, if you use 2" you will need a frame, or do two faces laminated to stiffener core.
  9. Suggestions Lighted sign redo

If they're expecting a permanent solution I would suggest refacing with ACM. You'll have to add some support in the middle.
  10. Regular vinyl on reflective for signs?

Why not ask the client the specs?
  11. What would you do....?

I'm supposed to know which vehicles have aluminum doors? I guess, but it seems like we are supposed to keep track of a lot of stuff that is constantly changing..."oh, now vinyl won't stick to paint", and "geez that material used to last 5 years or more guess I missed when they reformulated it"...
  12. Lexan mark up

Yep, it varies depending on the job and the quantity
  13. Question Are you a bitter, cranky old sign guy?

    Just carrying on the tradition
  14. Banner fitting in Scotsdale

Well, since there are now only a handful of merchants, none are in that area and apparently anyone can advertise here now, I don't think you have to worry about stepping on anyone's toe...
  15. Can anyone suggest someone to draw a characterture

Jill, John Deaton or Neato have all done nice work.
  16. Banner with D-Ring Instead of Gromet

I have also used Wyld and they do a great job.
  17. Banner fitting in Scotsdale

So you are in England and want to sub out a job for banner & install in Scottsdale AZ? There may be a member here from that area, but if you get no replies, then Google is your friend.
  18. Banner fitting in Scotsdale

They only "fit" sign in England & Australia. You bought a banner and want someone to install it?
  19. Suggestions Stud mounting adhesive

Yep, Lexel for most applications. Occasionally epoxy for special situations.l
  20. Centering Text with TM or R Marks

Ignore the mark. Center as though it wasn't there. If it looks bad, make it smaller or use a lighter color
