  1. Rescue Boat Lettering

If you research this you will find most manufacturers recommend stencil with vinyl "paint', not vinyl lettering. We have done a few with vinyl but I can't tell you how long they lasted. We have also done "plates" that attached to the rope in the photo. Whatever you do be sure they understand...
  2. CROSSFIT

Looks familiar but a search through my fonts and an online search came close but not exact.... anyone recognize it?
  3. Need Help White Foil ‘puckering’

That's a good idea. For me usually a defect like that is in the foil, probably binding a little. But if it happens with other foils I think redoing the artwork from scratch is worth a try.
  4. Got to thinking................................

House Painter, Cutting Cordwood, Car Wash, Farmhand, wanted to be a potter but one of the guys I studied with made his main living carving & lettering signs and he got me into it. Talked me into going to Butera Sign School in Boston in '74 and I've been in it ever since.
  5. Question 50 50's how would you make them?

I don't know what equipment you have, but if it was me I'd be subbing it out to someone with a flatbed router and doing it on something like polystyrene. Have them printed gold and then they can add glitter.
  6. What's your company's Year over Year growth percentage?

Signs of the Times does an article every year about the industry trends including a survey of companies broken down by size, that might have the kind of info you're looking for. I always liked seeing what other companies gross per employee was.
  7. Applying vinyl lettering to latex painted walls

I don't paint walls. I tell the client or their painter that I need something that vinyl can stick to and leave it up to them. If I had to paint a wall myself I'd use oil. If I absolutely had to use latex I'd ask my paint store what to use.
  8. OLD wrap removal

The hood isn't worth it for the cost of a replacement, the sides shouldl be easier. Still the cost of the removal is going to be painful.
  9. Exacto Blades Not Sharp Anymore

We have tried other brands but found Xacto #11 to work best for us.
  10. Applying vinyl lettering to latex painted walls

There are latex paints that work with vinyl, just have to be sure the painting contractor (or you)choose correctly. Or you can use oil based. And of course you can also wrap the whole column and skip paint altogether. If you go that way maybe you can upsell the design.
  11. Need Help Solution Needed for Bus Signage

I think the customer should put a little more thought into their identity. Is the issue that they have large commercial graphics which wouldn't be appropriate for high end private charters? Is it just a few of the vehicles that are used for the private charters? Around here some of these...
  12. putting edge or molding on aluminum composite

Yea, we gave up on that stuff, had same problems with failures mentioned, plus the colors turned to caca in short order.
  13. Looking for a supplier of .080 brown reflective alum

You can try Hall Signs, not sure if they offer brown reflective, but if its a good size order they might do custom. Hall Signs | Custom Signs, Sign Materials & Hardware
  14. putting edge or molding on aluminum composite

We use an aluminum channel ( from Outwater Plastics I think). It can be left as is, painted or covered with vinyl. Attache with lexel similar and a couple screws on each side, just to be sure.
  15. Christmas Gift for Sign Companies Question

I hate it when I don't notice that it's a zombie thread till I get to my response from 8 years ago... still it's a good thread to resurrect at this time. I like the clock idea.
  16. Helpful Tips On Installing Cast Letter On Rock Wall

I agree, just use studs. It takes patience. I like to use an epoxy when working with rock. You may want to bring some tape and spacers to hold it in place till the epoxy sets up. I have even set up a string level to line up the faces.
  17. Need Help Flat cut acrylic installation 6mm thick

    Those look much better
  18. Need Help Flat cut acrylic installation 6mm thick

Oops I didn't notice the pic showing the sloppy job you did using the method I described and I also didn't notice what eagle eyed Marlene did, the shadow on the front of the letter. You used the wrong white, it should be opaque. At this point you can either redo the job or cover the faces with...
  19. Need Help Flat cut acrylic installation 6mm thick

I agree with vince, use studs and blocks. Hard to believe a country as big as yours doesn't have access to pre made acrylic blocks & adhesive, most of it comes from over your way. But you can make your own with scrap pieces of acrylic. One way is to cut blacks of acrylic and flush mount flat...
  20. What material - interior signage?

Not quite sure what you're asking. Are you asking "What is the best substrate for a full coverage interior print to be mounted to a block wall?"? If so it kinda depends on the use, short term high end retail, permanent corporate identity, parking garage directionals...etc But some materials to...
