  2. can anyone help with this please?

yeah, we'll help. What's the problem? you have crappy picture of unrecognizable fonts? have the client (or you) take a better picture. Is that gold on glass, with some halfass attempt to get the shot holding some rag behind it? ...get black (or white?) paper & tape it up properly...
  3. Aargh... Adobe customer support...

next time, hang up & call back... might take several attempts, but that's how I excercize my nationalist prejudice when I want to at least be able to understand the people wasting my 55 minutes. Glad you got it worked out!
  4. illustrator resize

if you don't have your rulers up yet, ctrl-R will display them. You can also click & drag from the corner where the height & length rules meet & this will allow you to reset the ZERO of each ruler to a defined point, like the corner of a layout or object. Then you would also benefit from the...
  5. Adobe Photoshop Text Size

If you can do the typesetting entirely in Illustrator, and if this is for a sign, then I'd set up a rectangle (or whatever panel shape) as a keyline in illustrator... then I'd set me type at full size. (unless this is some huge sign that exceeds Illustrators size capacity) If you export the...
  6. Scarecrow vector art or clipart

cool. I use a tablet very rarely, but that is the type of task I've found it quite helpful with.
  7. Glad I made it

Hi Brian, sorry I didn't recognize the striping you are looking for. Why don't you post your question here where dozens of people can see it? I think you might have better (& faster) results then emailing file attachments with requests for help to signs101 members who don't recognize...
  8. Coldwell Banker Logo

just going from memory... is that an extra bold condensed sort of thing... with an ugly cutshort futuraish looking "C"

  12. Help!!

we found our forum long ago, if you don't like it, don't take the doorknob up yours on the way out
  13. Is there an easy way to bold a font

I've had the negative space in some letters start to close up, but if I need it bad enough, I've went as far as node editing the letter to widen the entire loop that creates that negative space. You can cheat, & just enlarge the inner contour sometimes... but that usually will look wrong.
  14. Illy cs

interesting comparison. I don't pretend to know any stats on Corel's share of the market, and only meant to imply that creating an "offset cutline" represents such an infinitesimal fraction of the value of vector illustration software, so as to render the several seconds one might save as...
  15. Illy cs

it's more work to type it then do it... That one task has always been the absolute weakest link in my favorite software for years now, but it still gets done in well under a minute. Besides, he didn't ask how to do it in corel. Sporadic, less click, methods always make good ammo in all...
  16. Help!!

I'd get a gerber plotter. It's so easy to just use the eyepiece & skip all the troubles. How many days of inefficiency would you have to eliminate to pay for that plotter? ...probably not as many as how long the plotter will last. (Canada is enuf info for me)
  17. Illy cs

sometimes there are multiple componants that fit inside one cutline, so I copy the whole design to the clipboard, then select all & change to black fill, black stroke, then object>path>outline stroke, then in the pathfinder dialog box, choose Unite to weld it all together. This creates a...
  18. What the F*()*#$ is wrong with my printer ???

The reason I have learned that I should wait on cutting some prints is because if I have a lot of black ink bleeding off the edge, the edges will curl off the liner because in the curing process, the ink tries to contract... but my Mimaki is running full solvent inks, which have some superior...
  19. What the F*()*#$ is wrong with my printer ???

oh, I get it... you roland guys want to cut stuff right away, while it is still loaded in your print-n-cut machines. You should let prints cure before cutting them... even if you need to take it out & print the next job first to stay efficient.
  20. Creative block...Nautical Font?

I have no idea what that could mean either... but for "STORAGE LOCKER" ...I would think the asthetics of typography at sea is much like it would be in the army... which is non-existent, therefore going with the trusty economical old standby that unimportant items like lockers would probably be...
