  1. Official: Whiskey Thread

The only time I drink whiskey is when I get the hiccups from beer. :) Love....Jill Nancy Whiskey
  2. Banners 101

Well one of the things I would suggest is to not always use a horizontal layout in a banner, to break it up with the use of panels. Don't go overboard with special effects just because you have a printer. Don't use cheap banner material even tho they are only a temporary sign. Don't give them...
  3. Antique Store Font?

:( Yours is fancier than mine. (having déjà vu for some reason)

  6. Attention all newbies

I didn't realize how bad my sign layouts sucked until I was in the biz about 9 years, I thought I was the shizzit. It took going to a Letterhead meet to see what I was doing wrong. I am always open to advice, and while I am not a designer by any means, I consider myself to be an OK sign...
  7. Just another daily job

Looks nice, Flamey. One tip I would give, even tho you did not ask. Always make your $ sign a little bit smaller than your number. In my opinion, it just looks better that way. Love....Jill
  8. Antique Store Font?

I was trying to be kind when I gave advice. If you have not read the Mike Stevens book yet, you should. http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Layout-Art-Eye-Appeal/dp/091138068X I am reading it again myself. Customer provided substrate? Only if it's not going to end up costing me more in prep...

    I love it! Excellent.
  10. Like hitting the jackpot!

Well I hit the jackpot again. My mom sent to California for copies of Grandma Welsh's diaries. The years are incomplete because some of the relatives lost a few. But I spent the past weekend reading them from 1920, then 1932-42, then a 1947. They are full of her dry sense of humor, and...
  11. Antique Store Font?

Not to be a snot but those layouts are all kind of un-snappy. Have you read the Mike Stevens book yet? And also, never show a client that many proofs (after their deposit) because you will only confuse them. And think of buying "good" fonts the way you would buy any needed tool for your...
  12. Hi everybody!!!

Hi! I know a few people who paint for movie sets, must be a Can-eh-dian thing. I like how your site is nice and fast! Love....Jill

  16. Graphtec CE50060 Pros & Cons?

Somebody pinch me. New cutter will be here Friday. I got it thru Glantz, even got the pouncing attachment. With shipping it's about $1880 total, but I would rather buy it from a company I know.
  17. Graphtec CE50060 Pros & Cons?

Thanks so much for all the info. :) As for noise...NOTHING can be louder than this old 4E I'm using.
  18. Vinyl on freshly painted vehicles

I don't care if a car painter says it can be lettered withon 45 minutes, I always wait at least two weeks just to be safe. You know you are the one that the client is going to complain to regardless of what you've told him about outgassing, etc. If forced, I would make them sign a waiver...
  19. business card layout

functionpdx hahahahaa That would be perfect! :)
  20. Wraps, Carved Signs, Custom Vehicle Graphics

I don't care for your typography on the tattoo wrap, or the white halo on the main lettering. Your sign could benefit from some negative space. The lettering is awful close to the top and sides. Love...Jill
